Today I see that FB fails to load my profile photo album. I get a spinning circle, description and comments section to the right is blank (or photo loads but no description). I check my connection activity, it's basically at 10 kbps. I run some speed tests, no problem.

So I go to MS Edge, everything on FB loads in an instant.

So the problem is FF. And that's on top of the 50%-100% of CPU that every click on FB produces. I compared it with Edge, 5%-50% of CPU.

So before I give up on FF and switch to Edge, can someone recommend another version of FF that is relatively lightweight for a low spec laptop? The latest version is a no go, as I understand it needs at least 8-16 GB of memory (!).

Thank you.

Hi, We were able not to display the url bar and the panelUI with firefox 68ESR but we are not able to reproduce the same display with firefox ESR 78.3.1. We are using mozilla.cfg to set browser.uiCustomization.state not to display urlbar-container in the nav-bar. We are setting a userChrome.css with those lines :

#urlbar, #urlbar * { display: none !important }
#PanelUI-fxa-status { display: none !important }
#PanelUI-menu-button { display: none !important }

But they are still here. Everything I can find on the topic is not related to the last version. Any idea to help us ?

Firefox in Kubuntu 14.04 help please...

Yesterday I started up Firefox and clicked the window not make Firefox as my default Browser, like I always do, but next time I started it up it bypassed this check box and made Firefox as default, so I must of click the wrong tab. So how do I reverse this again not to make Firefox my default? I remember that this happened years ago but can't remember how to reset thru about:config, as can't reset thru preferences? How does it accept the change from true to false in the about:config/shell/browser.shell.CheckDefaultBrowser/ as every time I change it to false and close FF and reopen in the about:config/shell/browser.shell.CheckDefaultBrowser shows true and still says in the preferences FF is the default browser? Can you help me please?

I run Firefox 52.9.0 32bit ESR as main browser - for reasons to do with our server I also run under a separate profile Firefox 68.12.0 ESR 32 bit for testing

When using 52.9.0 whenever I change a bookmark, it ALSO updates the file in the V68 profile folder! I have no idea why as both profiles should be separate. The time stamps are the same.

I need to keep the V68 profile completely isolated from the V52 so need to try and stop this unusual updating!

Both profiles are NOT local and located in F:drive under different folders. Both versions are started as:- "I:\Firefox New\firefox.exe" -P "Firefox New" and "I:\Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "Firefox Old" and the profiles.ini file points correctly

Any suggestions please - and no I can not update them as needed for specific purposes!

is Firefox version 52 (windows XP) compatible with Elementor (Wordpress website design software)

building a web site with Wordpress Elementor and Elementor no longer opens in safemode. No progress in solving this – could it be the browser? 52 is the latest version of Mozilla that runs on windows XP.

Thanks!

Hi all, I had posted in detail about a month ago the problem with FF using too much memory and CPU, but, alas, with no reply.

I'm using a much older version, 52.8.1 esr, but even that is a memory hog, on Win 7 at least. I installed this version because I've used it on Win XP before with no problems.

The current version of Chrome, curiously, uses less memory and CPU.
