After the last update (40.0.2 @ 13.08.2015) Firefox just wont open. The process comes visible in task manager, but does nothing. no window. JUST. NOTHING. It only functions in either safe mode or when ran as an administrator. I tried all other computers in the house too. Same thing.

How to fix?

Are you using NVIDIA? [[Hardware acceleration in Windows 10 is not working - NVIDIA|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1077259]]

It's because they disabled hardware acceleration thus using more processing power.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1077356

If this is the case, why is Mozilla misleading many Windows 10 Firefox users with an upgrade to FF 40.0, selling it as ensuring a smooth transition for anyone that has upgraded their system to Windows 10. It's a blatant, misleading untruth and Mozilla should remove the text from their FF 40.0 upgrade spiel.

Why not upgrade to FF 40? It'll ensure that many Windows 10 users eith NVidia will experience extremely high CPU ratings and a complete operating system slowdown. That is the fact of the matter. Mozilla is misleading Windows 10 users with NVidia cards regarding this upgrade to FF 40. It is NOT fully Windows 10 compatible. Mozilla should stop trying to sell it as though it is.

The attached screenshot illustrates he devastating effect upgrading to FF 40 can have on cpu rate when trying to play any HTML5 content. 1080p playback being the worst culprit. Windows 10 compatible? Yeh, right!

RIght-clicking on a tab and selecting "Bookmark All Tabs..." no longer adds all tabs in a given window to my bookmarks. instead, it creates an empty folder called "[New Folder]" under "Bookmarks Menu".

I was previously FIrefox Version 39.something.something. There is a "Location" field in the "New Bookmarks" popup that I don't recognize; I assume it is part of the 40.0.2 update.

So I reset firefox after it suggested it'd been running slowly, it had been, said passwords, book marks and such would all be saved so I did this, went straight back on and everything seemed fine accept that my new tab pages had been reset to new, but this seemed fine considering bookmarks and passwords were all still there. Come on today and it's applying updates to the plugins, it starts out half fill and after a few mins is still stuck at half so I close it, silly of me perhaps, then load up firefox and it works fine until my homepage is Miniclips... It hasn't been that for a good few years, my bookmarks have also returned to what they were a few years ago, potentially passwords might've as well e.g. all current passwords are lost.

Having trouble logging into my firefox account to ask a question. Since the change to Firefox 40, I can't load Farmville2 on Firefox. I can open my inbox and answer requests but I have to use chrome to play, but I would prefer to use Firefox. Also I was asked to take a Firefox survey but when I was done and hit submit...it wouldn't submit....another survey today asked if I was happy with Firefox, when I said no, it didn't even ask why (I was hoping to contact someone to fix the problems with zynga), just closed the survey.  ???? I have tried to find a contact us button, but just keep getting redirected to other places. I hope someone can help me with this problem

I just refreshed and nothing has changed so far.

I have my Mozilla preferences set up so that everytime I click on a url, it should open in a new tab, but every once in a while Mozilla goes on the fritz and opens the new url IN THE SAME TAB! I checked my preferences, they are still set correctly. I checked Tools: Options: General: Tabs: Open new window in tab instead. and When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately. So this is still set correctly.

What am I missing?

What led to this article is a situation in which I was redirected to paypal from another site, in order to complete a purchase. (see the attached picture)

As seen in the picture the URL is marked with the gray Triangle, and I am wondering what exactly does the message "The site does not supply identity information" mean. 1. Can it be that this site not "paypal.com", although it is written in the URL? 2. If it is paypal, is it not safe to complete the transaction? 3. Is it possible that Paypal does not have certificate?

I checked the last question, simply went directly to paypal.com . I got the green padlock.

My feeling is that in many cases, the saying "Can't see the forest for the trees" somehow describes the situation a regular user is tackled with. The differences between "The site does not supply identity information" (gray Triangle) "The website's address has been verified" (Gray padlock) "The connection between Firefox and the website is only partially encrypted and doesn't prevent eavesdropping" (Orange Triangle) Are not really clear, and it is not clear whether THE IMPORTANT DATA is safe or not. What or why do i care if the image is not encrypted, if the credit card details are? Please advise

Before upgrading everything was fine. Through many upgrades my customisations and "Classic Theme Restorer" settings survived and I was happy.

However, after upgrading to 40.0.2 from 39.0.3 the toolbar icons became strange.

I attach a screenshot which shows this.

NONE of the installed plugins and add-ons have been installed AFTER the upgrade.

I was thinking of downgrading back to version 39.0.3 but was worried that this might cause further problems or that I might not downgrade correctly
