When I type something into the central search window, and then either press enter, or click on the search icon, my typing disappears, and the cursor reappears.

I've tried to add an illustrating image, but have not been able to upload it.

Edit, removed email address. This is a public website and indexed by search engines. So a privacy issue and potentially will result in email spamming.

Using my Macbook Pro I accidentally made Ask.com my search page when I opened Firefox last week. I wanted to restore to my original opening page. Trying to delete it seemed impossible so I tried to supercede the page by reverting back to the original with an address bar in the upper left corner and a search bar (Google) in the upper right using mozilla somehow. Unfortunately Mozilla Add-ons page now opens up when I click firefox. These add-ons may be very useful in the future, but I don't to bother with them now. I'd like to now how to delete that page so it doesn't open, and restore what I had before. P.S. I got to it trying to eliminate Ask.com according to instructions....with pictures even. Hard to find for Apple.

This is looking more like a website issue rather than browser problem, but can you tell me whether there might be a Firefox setting that is affecting this behavior? When shopping for yarns online, I often open various color images in separate windows to see which look better together. I've come across a page that won't allow me to do that for many of the images -- instead, the message pops up: > You have chosen to open: > [filename].zoom.1.jpg > which is: Binary File > from: http://cdno1.yarn.com > would you like to save this file? > Cancel / Save File The page is http://www.yarn.com/webs-anniversary-sale-weaving-yarns/webs-weaving-yarns-valley-yarns-rayon-chenille/. To incur the error, I hit ctrl + enter while the cursor is on the hourglass image and then select either Open Link in New Tab (or New Window). Copying the image link and entering it into the URL bar also brings up the same error message for the affected items. I added "yarn.com" and "cdno1.yarn.com" to my list of exceptions to the popup blocker, but that didn't make a difference, nor did opening Firefox in Safe Mode.

I've recently had to erase and reinstall my laptop OS, so I've lost my preferred settings for Firefox and I'm trying to sort out and fix any unexpected behaviors. I'm currently using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and the latest version of Firefox. (I can't seem to access that information in Safe Mode, but 38.0 sounds about right.)

Any help is appreciated.

Suddenly instead of a box opening now I have a tab opening when I go to Tools/Options - how can I get the box back and stop the tab from opening, I prefer to be able to see my current tab below the Tools/Options box, and now I can't. This is making things very awkward.

Whenever Firefox auto-update runs Norton360 detects a virus in the updated xul.dll file (the virus is identified as: Suspicious.Cloud.9.B a heuristic virus) and deletes it from the "Mozilla firefox/updated" folder. When Firefox tries to restart it inevitably crashes. I then have to load another browser to download Firefox from the Mozilla website. This version (supposedly the same as the version loaded by auto-update) installs without complaint from Norton360 (note: Firefox keeps its previous settings OK). 1. Is there any difference between the two versions of xul.dll? 2. does the xul.dll file contain a virus? and 3. How can I get an auto-update to work first time?

I was browsing and one of the tabs stopped working. I couldn't close it or do anything w/ it except view it. The other tabs and window seemed ok. I had quite a few pinned tabs and am using the group your tags feature. Eventually I gave up and closed the windows. (the one w/ the pinned tabs I closed last) When I opened firefox again, it opened a whole bunch of "New Tabs" and I can't restore the session since it thinks it retained the session. My guess is that the group tabs functionality is bugged, especially since it seems you can't turn it off and it won't release the session.

Just updated to 38.0.5. Activated Pocket, but the icon is nowhere to be found. Tried Customize, no icon. Bookmarks has "View Pocket List," but I cannot ever add anything to the List, because there is icon or action to do so!

Every time I go into my Yahoo mail the above message pops up. I really don't like Yahoo search. How do I get this message to stop popping up? Ever since it started popping up Yahoo mail is glitchy and slow (only on the 2 computers with Firefox). I'd like to keep Firefox, but will switch if this isn't fixable.

Under Bookmarks drop down list is "View Pocket List", right below "Show Bookmarks". It appeared when you offered "View Pocket List" or I may have inadvertently added it. I didn't mean to! I would like to delete it but I don't know how to.

Mozilla has already admitted a memory leak keeps images from appearing from multiple sources. Well, if I have Tumblr open, not all the images there display. Some simply lead to links saying 'Access Denied' and some simply don't even have a URL attached to them; there's no indication an image is there at all. The more Tumblr windows I have open, the worse the problem, and the longer each page takes to load.

These problems do not occur on Internet Explorer 11 at the same time, looking at the same pages. Images load and display and, where an image is not available, a broken-link icon appears. Something is very wrong with image handling in Firefox 38, a problem so grave that it threatens the usability of the program. When I can't get the images for the books at John Allison's "Scary Go Round" page but they appear instantly in IE, then there's a fairly severe problem here not adequately addressed. I think you need to look into this, and quickly. As it stands, Firefox is broken, for all practical purposes. It is not usable for any Web page with multiple images.

Firefox is very slow after the last update; as I 'm typing the letters in this note now, letters appear very slow on my screen, scrolling is just as slow and very irritating with f.i. using gmail or any website, changing a screen takes ages. I've tried every suggestion given by the supportcenter. Uninstalled adobe flashplayer, refreshed firefox, uninstalled and re-installed firefox several times without having any positive results.

Who can help me?

Trying to play audio on SoundCloud isn't working for me, as well as any other sites that make use of HTML audio. All that happens is that weird squeaky sounds start playing, and then Firefox will crash afterwards. It works fine when I try it in other browsers.

Since FF 38, I'm getting this popup-message, but unfortunately, none of my tabs are closed or crashed.

It also showing this window, even I don't have tabs open (eg. on the new about:blank page). Thou this message pop up almost every time when I'm opening a new page.

Please tell me how to deactivate this incorrect message! It is really annoying!

My partner just recently brought this to my attention since this is his prefered method of googling...

if we search using google's image tab, some of the images don't load and we can't see the usual "view image / visit site" when we click on said image....

He's noticed it for the last few days, and it works fine using google chrome or (shrug) internet explorer.

Somehow I have lost the Menu bar. I've selected it to show using the Customize screen but when selected/unselected the screen only jumps once yet doesn't show me the Menu bar. I'm not using Full Screen mode.

For the past several days, I have been getting script error message such as the above. I keep getting Firefox is not responding when I try to change tabs, go on links, go to other websites, etc. I'm getting p.o.'d and will go back to Internet Explorer if you can't fix this, FIREFOX! My time on the computer is hours longer than normal because of the delays in waiting for firefox to respond and in waiting for the script error message box to keep coming up so I can click to continue. I have refreshed my firefox and have had to update all my extensions and addons and am not interested in doing it again, there has to be some other way since that isn't fixing the problem, either!

Hi, I've been using Pocket since Read It Later days on my firefox browser. I've upgraded to the firefox 38.0.5 and after follow the steps of "Transitioning from the old Pocket extension for Firefox" tutorial I've disable the old pocket extension, version 3.0.6.1-signed, and the new one does not work. The new icon does not appear on the toolbar, I've looked for it into the customize options and under “Additional Tools and Features” and the button is missing.
