I have done a fresh install and copied over my profile. Yahoo has become the default search. How do I change this please?

I actually tried different versions of Firefox but cannot find any option to change it.

One article said to change it in my preferences tab. But neither version has one - I am using a menu bar and there is no preferences option.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

So about a month ago I received a FF update on my home theater PC and along with it came the CDM. Prior to this we were using the silverlight plugin (with no issues).

After this update, when we are watching a series on Netflix and the end of the episode is reached, the HDMI signal is dropped for 10-20 seconds while it attempts to load the next episode.

If the signal does return (sometimes it doesn't), the next episode has already been playing for some time and and sometimes without sound. Restarting FF will resolve the audio issue.

I have tried disabling the CDM to go back to silverlight, but it does not appear to be an option.

This is a Win 7-64 system. The HDMI out runs through a SONY STR-DH520 and to the Sanyo HD TV.

Prior to this update, everything worked as expected.

Running Firefox 31.8.0 for OpenSUSE 11.4 (*which is the highest version available for my OS)

A few months back I had updated Firefox (*I installed a patch that was available this morning to go to version 31.8), but I can't remember from what version to what version, or if that was even the root cause of the issue when I updated it sometime in 2015. But, ever since that I have been having issues adding a "Permanent" Exception for any of our Internal https sites/servers that have an expired certificate.

So for example, I go to this one server https://55.55.55.55/ and when I do, I get a warning that: "This Connection is Untrusted You have asked Firefox to connect securely to 55.55.55.55:8443, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure...."

So I click "Add Exception" and then in the Pop-up I leave "Permanently store this exception" checkbox checked, and I click "Confirm Security Exception" and when I do nothing happens at all... If I were to then uncheck the "Permanently store this exception" checkbox and click on "Confirm Security Exception" again, this time it works. But, it's only storing a temporary exception, the permanent checkbox used to work at some point a while back but now its not...

However, if I re-open Firefox and choose my secondary profile called "temp" and load that instead of my regular profile "default", and I naviagte to the same page and Confirm Security Exception with the Permanent checkbox checked, it works perfectly.

Is there something wrong with my Profile? I have some much under this Profile I really don't want to loose it.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, please feel free to respond. It would be greatly appreciated!

Is there an easy way to reset a preference which appears as 'user set' in Firefox about:config?

We have introduced a preference with a value in mozilla.cfg. This preference appears as 'user set' in about:config. The issue is that the preference stays unchanged even after deleting its entry from mozilla.cfg. (it is probably stored in prefs.js)

The way to remove is to manually reset it to default (right-click and reset). The problem is that I have many PCs to fix on the network, so manual method is not good enough. I also would like to avoid editing directly the prefs.js file stored in the profiles folder.

Is there any other way? like a command line or something like GCLI commands (pref reset), that I could run as a one time script on all pcs on the network?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tom.

We have associated a file type to a custom Windows application. When a web link pointing to this file type is clicked, the Windows application is opened. However, we need to be able to pass runtime parameters to this application from the webpage. Is there a way to configure Firefox to pass runtime parameters to the application?

Dear Mme Sir i use windows vista , and when i have try to upgrade my Firefox , i will have the problem that no connection of internet will work, even that other browser such as internet explorer have access to internet. i had follow most of ur support forum in this case and try to unlock my firewall by deleting and then adding Firefox in trusted program NO WAY , i had enter to about .... in address and try modify the IPV6 by making to true NO WAY. am experiment in network problems, so my connection r good and i had try many choices in "option - network ....." I had download and install others versions example 30,30.1,33,40 even 3.0 or 3.6.9 or 3.6.10 also i had try NETSCAPE 9 the same problem. the only solution is to return to version 3.6.3 and then i get internet connection. also in this version, i get the redirect to "googleservice......" all time when trying to browse any site web ,it jammed and freeze to blank white... i couldn't install any add-on reason of no conformity of most of them with this version also when try to force it, i will have error message indicating me that file are not signed, -260 please could you give the solution, because i love so much my fox even with its bugs.... Our desktop group is trying to push out a certificate to several 100 PC's in our company that are running Firefox. We are looking for help from someone that has done this. Any consultants out there?

My home page is set to www.bluevalleyk12.org/switcher. I change the homepage to another page, such as google.com and even after closing Firefox and re-opening, it reverts back to the bluevalleyk12.org/switcher. I have even tried resetting the values in about:config and it still reverts back. Any help would be appreciated,

I have a video on a web page. On my poster image, I have a play button built in. So, how can I hide the play button that appears automatically on the video in Firefox? I do not need two play buttons on top of each other.

I recently started using linux and with it came iceweasel. I created a new email account and wanted to change the one i was using to sync iceweasel (firefox). So i removed the previes email, but when i entered the new email, i send the confirmation link to a wrong email. So should i be worried. I resend the confirmation link and entered a new password. But i'd like to know, what really happens when you make a mistake like this.

I'm still using rev 31. It's the last version that's compatible with the add on, 'Multicolumn Bookmarks 1.5' I have numerous books marks collected over the years, and the single column format is frustrating and not helpful.

Request that Fire Fox provide a current version that is compatible with 'MultiColumn Bookmarks 1.5', or provide a multi-column navigable favorites display as an option in a near future Fire Fox program revision.

In Windows, I can auto create a new FF profile and open a specific page by one command line. In Mac, I assumed the command line is /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P homepageprofile -no-remote https://homepage but I have to configure the profile name in profile manager. how to bypass the profile manager , and use command line to auto create profile and run firefox to open my page? Thanks

I've selected in the update tab under the advanced options to never check for updates, none of which I will ever want to download, never had the Maintenance Service installed, and also confirmed that the values of such preferences of "app.update.auto, app.update.enabled, app.update.silent" are set to false in about:config as I was told they should be. Yet, EVERY time I open Firefox, Firefox automatically tries to update itself, prompting User Account Control to ask my permission for Firefox to make changes (the upgrade) to my computer. I do not want to have to click no every time I'm asked this because Firefox tries to update itself WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. What can I do to stop this?

I only know how to export bookmarks for later restoration. I'd also like to export the cookies that I use on my normal sites so I can also restore them later.

I installed firefox 40.0.3 and cannot access ssl (https) pages, including mozilla.org,, but can access if net nanny 6.5 is disabled. not an issue with other browsers. Operating system is windows 7. error message:

"Secure Connection Failed

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

Is this a known problem? (Hopefully with a known answer).

At some point in the last upgrades, my Session Manager quit working. This is a critical function of FF.

After newer versions of FF crashed my whole machine, I downgraded repeatedly until verion 31.6.0, which only crashes my machine every 4 days or so. But now, if I try to save a session, the selection area is blank, as if I have no tabs open, and the Save button is greyed-out. I have multiple tabs open.

I use a half-dozen plugins to restore the old (functional) UI, from the mess that has been made of it. I can't disable those to test, because I don't have a UI I can navigate, anymore.

I have the latest version of Session Manager. When will this be fixed? Thank You.

My firefox stopped playing mp3 audio after an update a while ago, to my great frustration. I often got an error message to the effect the video format was invalid or some other error indication, or nothing. When I started firefox from a terminal window ( $ firefox & ) there was a message "gst_critical . . ." I can't remember the rest. I disabled media.gstreamer in about:config and that seems to have fixed the problem. Somewhere in the past updates, Firefox developers made an error with using the gstrreamer library or Slackware made an error (probably Firefox developers).
