Firefox 16.0 Windows Vista 32-bit. Just switched to FF16.0. When I try to edit text on my personal Blog, I get the text become unreadable as they overlap ~8 times. On another website image icons were repeated 8 times for each icon, together with each download button for the video the icon represented. I deleted my cache unnecessarily as it didn't fix the problem! The problem has been ongoing for about a month; so I had to switch to another Browser IE9 to edit my Blog in the meantime! I can provide a screenshot; but my description is adequate.

In the last hour I had my firefox browser open. I was on my ebay page as I watched TV. I closed the browser, and then opened it up again 30 seconds later to check something. When It opened up to Google homepage a pop up opened up that I've never seen before opened. It reads:

Authentication Required Enter username and password for http://js.browseforchange.com Username: Password: Use Password Manager to Remember this Password.

I didn't download, install or change anything recently. I click the cancel button each time it appears, but it comes back. It pops up every time I open my browser, open a new tab or try to go to a new web address. It freezes my browser until I click cancel (no choice). I google searched and searched in the Firefox website for a solution with no topic matches. Can someone tell me what's happening, what http://js.browseforchange.com is or what I can do to get rid of it? Thank you.

Picked up this useless search bar accidentally and can't get rid of it. Blocking the url with Avast just prevents Firefox from opening. Can't find a program with this name to delete. Plugin does not appear in Add-ons file. Any suggestions that work would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance, BAB

Hi, i have just recently started having an issue with Sync on my desktop. My associated Android and Mac Laptop do not experience any issues when attempting to sync, but the desktop constantly gives the same error. I have tried unpairing the desktop, clearing all files, restarting and then adding the desktop to sync once again, but the error persists.

All of the bookmarks on the desktop have vanished, but are still in my sync data and have no problems being viewed on the other paired devices. This also tells me that the issue isn't the sync server and is something unique to the desktop machine.

I am hoping that this won't require a reinstall, but if all else fails, it is an option. I will try to attach a log file once i have submitted the question.

Hi, I run Firefox 16.0.1 - I was installing a program from the net and it seems that other site installed a program under a folder named Hi Players, the program is called hao123, the program hijacks my yahoo mail home page and starts automatically when I close Firefox and re-open, when it opens hao123 page appears, and when I press the home page icon it goes to my home page. I tried uninstalling, deleting, cleaning registry, even installed ashampoo optimizer to try to remove this program but failed. Kindly help knowing that I am not a computer expert.

I am trying to cleanup the profile on my desktop then put it on my laptop. One I have it working I will copy it back to my desktop; so both browsers will look and behave the same. Then I can use sync to keep the sync'd.

I've moved the data from my desktop profiles to a new folder I named "profile transfer". I understand that I can replace the files in the profile on my laptop with them.

Bookmarkbackup, signons3.txt, signons2.txt, signons.sqlite, prefs.js, places.sqlite, persdict.dat key2.db, cookies.sqlite, cookeies.sqlite-shm, cookies.sqlite-was and cookies.txt.

 Do I need all those cookie files of just cookies.txt? In the help section is was suggested I copy signons.sqlite and signons3.txt; but it didn't mention signon2.txt.

This morning my home page in FF and IE were changed to start.search.us.com. I was able to uninstall start.search (using Revo Uninstaller; it does not show up in Control Panel/Programs). I was able to change my home page in IE back to what I want and it seems to "stick." But every time I restart FF the home page I had previously set switches back to start.us. I can't find any evidence of start.search in Add-ons, Extensions etc. I think I know where this came from--I clicked a little too fast on some free software and spotted the search thing too late. I saw some extremely complicated explanations and recommendations for this problem in FF somewhere with lots of comments that the stuff was undecipherable and didn't work anyway. Any suggestions? I saw a suggestion that uninstalling FF and then reinstalling it can fix this. Does it? If so I can do that pretty easily--saving my bookmarks and reinstalling the single add-on that I have been using for months.

This is my original question.

I have disabled the New Tab thumbnails by setting auto-config to 'aboutblank' and this has ensured the New Tab page is blank. However, FF is still dumping these thumbnails onto my PC, this despite my having set the History to 'Clear Cache' on exit from FF. I have tested New Tab without thumbnails in my last FF session, yet found the thumbnails of visited Sites were on my PC. If 'Clear Cache' does not remove these thumbnails, what does ?

System: Windows XP

I am trying to re-enable showing/retaining the list of downloaded files in the download manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from that window into a folder of my choosing. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I messed that up...)

I have tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including setting Firefox to remember all history in the Privacy tab of Options.

I also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to "reset" the browser defaults, but to no avail.

Any ideas/help?

Thanks.

When I log-in to www.traffup.net some links inside my members area are not clickable anymore. I do not have a toolbar and the problem also occurs with links that are not near the top. When I click the links nothing happens. Here's the source code of some of the links that wont work

<ul id="dropdown">
	<li class="lbl">Howdy Thomas</li>

	<li><a class="main">Websites</a>
		<ul>
		<li><a href="http://traffup.net/mysites/">My Websites</a></li>
		<li><a href="http://traffup.net/listing/">Add New Website</a></li>
		<li><a href="http://traffup.net/favourites/">Favourites</a></li>
		</ul>

I think the problem is this kind of link: <a class="main">Websites</a>

These are showing up on the page. If everything would be working then clicking on them should open a dropdown with the other 3 links, but this doesnt work.

Firefox doesnt seem to know how to handle it. But the same version of firefox gets the job done on Vista.

I have also tried the version 17 from beta update channel and Aurora ---> same problem

I have tried Safe Mode --> same problem

Any help is appreciated...

I am getting tired of the constant reminders to upgrade Firefox to 19. I have no intention of upgrading because according to the reports, I will lose my Norton Toolbar and I use it several times a day, at least. I can't/won't upgrade to a version that will be incompatible to the add-ons I need. The pop-ups ask me to "Upgrade Now," or "Ask Me Later." I don't want to upgrade now, and I don't want to be asked later! How can I get Firefox to leave me alone?

FF v. 16.00 removed the context menu item: "Send Link" I would like it back now, please.

Apple and Microsoft remove features at will from their products and users just have to lump it, work around if possible, or go somewhere else. I consider this 'software fascism'.

Why does FireFox have to behave this way? Just put the feature in and disable by default.

Doh.

That is all.
