... gone into Extensions and removed it. Did this several days ago. But each time I open Firefox after a reboot, searchnu.com is home page. Also, in Options General, "open windows and tabs from last time" is changed to "Show Home Page"

How do I remove it if it isn't in my list of add-ons? Just 2 are there -- MultiRow Toolbar and McAfeeScriptScan.

A search for iSearch and SearchNU brings up nothing.

I've noticed that when I click on a bookmarked website it doesn't stay highlighted when the website opens. If I bump the slider bar next to the bookmark sidebar it then highlights the active website. How do I keep the active website highlighted without touching the slider bar?

When Amazon UK site loads, error message received that additional plugins required to display all the media on the page. Java and Flash have been updated and all other plugins updated but the problem is not resolved. When I click install plugins a message is returned that no suitable plugins found. Browser has been closed and re started many times. Any ideas please? Many thanks

After applying update to Beta 15, I lost access to Add-ons. Clicking the button in Firefox logo doesn't work; neither does Ctl-Shft-A. Mouse features also are not working. Not sure what else doesn't work. I used System Restore to retrieve Beta 14.

I have my cookies set not to delete until they expire, yet every 2 or 3 days they just disappear. I use NO other clearing programs that could accidentally clear cookies. I have also checked people with the same problem and the only solution seemed to be to create a new profile. So what happens when this happens again and again. Just create 100 new profiles?? Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem?

I have Javascript enabled but it continually gives me this message. I followed the Safe Mode instructions and brought up FB and tried clicking on the Mafia Wars game link and still get the same message "You need Javascript enabled in your browser to use Facebook Applications." When I am on my home page of FB.com and someone posts a link to mafiawars.com, when I click on that link, it doesn't take me to that page, but gives me that message. It doesn't do it when I use Google Chrome.

I have been having hangs, Freeze ups and crashes which are way too frequent to not be some sort of bug. Based on my observation, I think it is related to Flash in some way. Heavy restart crashes are at websites which have lots of Flash items on those pages. However, not all crashes or freezes are caused by flash as I have had a crash and long term freeze at a very basic website that was pretty much nothing but text. Freeze ups are 1 to 6 minutes. Most of the time, after a freeze up I get a crash notice and button asking me to send a crash report which I always do. But the frequency of these issues is getting worse and the length of time of the freeze up or crash period where I can not click on anything or try to get back to desktop is getting longer. Need work around or something as this issue is getting out of hand.

JAVA version 7 update 5 build 1.7.0_5-b06 and Firefox 14.0.1

I recently updated firefox, then had to update Adobe and Java. This seem to lead to problems with Vuze, which I unistalled and reinstalled but have not been able to get to work.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java 7 but have not been able to confirm it is working at the Java.com test page. I have read over Problem with Firefox 14.0.1 and Java https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/932761

Used these 2 Java sites; http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

But have not been able to get any answer in the Java tests

Any help would be appreciated.

1) troubleshooting JAVA tests and installation. 2) How to confirm it's not a firewall issue. If so what is the name of the java files i should allow through.

Since I updated Firefox t0 14.0.1 I've been plagued with script issues which I've already posted but no fix so far. Now I keep received Java Script issues and can't access the page/website that needs them.

I've checked all the suggested things that could cause this issue but none of them help.

Firefox is up to date. Java is up to date. Flash is up to date.

Any suggestions for fixing this are appreciated.

My son recently decided to re-install the entire computer and chose to synch up firefox. He first synched it and reinstalled windows 7, when he re-installed firefox and logged in using the decryption key everything seemed fine. I'm now missing: my history, my bookmarks (some very important work related ones) and every other setting. Is there a way to fix this?

Not just on the toolbar, but ALL bookmark icons. I hate them. Don't need them.

Is there a simple setting somewhere in Firefox to handle this? If not, perhaps it might be something they'd consider adding in the future to turn them off in the options or something?

The only thing I've seen so far here is an add-on that removes them from the toolbar. I want them all gone from all bookmark menus and prefer not to have to install further 3rd party apps to get this done.

Ever since i started using Firefox I have set my Home pages to open automatically at boot-up on my Windows XP. There has been no issue. Now suddenly, it will not access the internet and home pages when i start in the morning. After that, when ever I hit "home page" it does it no problem. I have checked the home page settings; I have reset fire fox but it still does not connect.I have also attempted to follow advise previously given. I have some knowledge of getting around the PC but Im NOT a Techie!! Any advise would be appreciated please. Thanks john Glasgow UK

"Content Encoding Error". This error is getting on my nerves. I've installed and reinstalled Firefox many times thinking that the error message would go away. No way! The error message comes up almost all the time. My IE works fine. What gives? If the Firefox team doesn't put its' resources to work and comes up with a working solution, many customers will abandon Firefox. Firefox Tech/Support do your job!

But now, when I open a new tab, there is an extra page remaining BEFORE the website's. VERY annoying since I have to 'open' each webpage each time, even though I'm saving & opening my tabs.

Is this a security problem?

Even on a supposedly secure banking site, all someone needs to do now is click on my username and it gives a list of the users, click one and it fills in WITH password. NOT funny.

This is the second time I'm filling in all of this information, I hope it works this time.

A while back I changed mailto to Firefox in Options>Applications>mailto After that, when I would click on an email address, Firefox would open new tabs VERY quickly and would not stop until I used Task Manager to close Firefox. I then went back and changed mailto back to Always Ask. But the same thing still happens when I click an email address, Firefox opens tabs very rapidly until I close it with task manager. I then checked the settings in about:config "network.protocol-handler.external.mailto" and it is set to default, boolean, true I don't want a default email program to be set, I want it to always ask. Please help with this. Thank you.

In the last few days (I believe since the installation of the latest Firefox), my awesome bar has started delivering autocomplete suggestions in alphabetical order, instead of delivering the most frequently used site first. Since I use the awesome bar for most of my navigation, this is a significant hitch. How do I switch the settings for awesome bar autocomplete back to relevant rather than alphabetical?

Windows 7 Firefox 14, Thunderbird 13 Intel i7, 8g ram Wireless 12 mbps connection on home router No new software loaded by user I do not load unnecessary BS like toolbars, or allow software to be loaded from websites or unknown sources. MS Security Essentials is and always has been updated, and does not report malware, spyware, or virus'. Attempted to reset Firefox with no effect. Set Firefox to 'No Proxy' with no effect. Reset modem/router with no effect. Rebooted Windows 7 with no effect. Local activity (viewing pictures, Word, Quicken) runs normal and instantaneous.

No issues while using Cox connection in Las Vegas, but after transferring concerned laptop to new locale - Denver, CO - everything slowed to a near stand still - ~4 minutes to load a page, no matter the the website. This happens on Firefox, IE, and Thunderbird. The broadband modem and router appear to be working correctly as other Windows-based and Mac-based computers, iPads, iPhones, and Android phones work normally. CPU, RAM, and disk resources are the same as before issue occurred, and appear normal. This issue also occurs when starting Firefox 14 in safe mode.

It is hard to believe no one has ever asked this question before because I see all sorts of unworkable solutions when I google it. Nonetheless, I am finding the pc system in general extremely unintuitive in this matter which should be quite simple. I want to return to bing as my default browser after ask.com installed itself when I inadvertently used it to search for something. Help! Mercury retrograde proves that Murphy was right!
