This isn't a question, just reporting a consistent problem which has become very annoying.

64bit Firefox running in a VM (VMware workstation) often, make that, very often - 8 times out of 10 - fails to resolve a web site (get the ip for the site), after selecting "try again", it usually finds it but, this results in a 5 to 10 second delay _every time_.

There is no pattern to the web sites Firefox has trouble resolving. It can't find Google, Microsoft and other sizeable web sites. Smaller web sites are guaranteed to not be accessed on the first try.

I should note that Google Chrome does not have that problem. Given this situation, if you wonder why I am not using Chrome instead of Firefox, it is because Google Chrome doesn't allow accessing Wikipedia which I use all the time.

I am seriously considering giving Safari a try. Too much time wasted waiting for Firefox to find the Himalayas of the internet.

Thank you and my apologies for the mild rant at the end.

I'm a web developer that setup a local environment under Linux Mint.

For some reason, Firefox Developer Edition (59.0b7 64-bit) cannot access sites on my localhost. The interesting thing is that Firefox Quantum 58.0.1 (64-bit) is showing these local sites perfectly fine. I've tested other browsers, including Konqueror and Lynx, and these work fine also.

I've setup my environment so that apache2 can serve pages from a 'wildcard' virtual host. Using symlinks, I can link my project files to another directory that functions as the web root. Thus:

/home/me/business/projects/client/index.html => /home/me/business/www/client/index.html

Navigating to http://client.dev brings up the page perfectly in Firefox 58, Konqueror, and Lynx.

However, Firefox Developer Edition, AND Google Chrome, both fail to load the page. The URL changes from http://client.dev to https://client.dev and throws this message:

"Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at client.dev."

I've played around with the about:config settings for Network.dns.* but nothing seems to help. Also, the apache logs do not produce anything useful.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I have a local Linux server in my office we use for our point of sale system. I almost never need to log in to it, as we have an outside support company that handles most of it. In this instance they want me to login and look at something, so they sent me an email telling me to login using a particular https internal address (https://192.168.1.1:1311 for example). I know nothing at all about Linux except how to spell it, so they have me use Dell Open Manage so it has a more "windows type" interface. However, I can't log in because of the security error I listed above. Screenshot attached. I cannot find a way to force FF to ignore it or bypass it or whatever. Any suggestions?

None of these are bookmarked pages, so https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1181480 does not help, as it is about search engines. Note that the websites I tried to visit are all HTTPS websites, but HTTP websites work.

I am running Firefox 55.0.3 on an iMac El Capitan. I keep getting Access Denied; you don't have permission to access (URL) on this server, for a few sites only (sites I've accessed in the past). I've cleared cookies, cache, and history, I've refreshed Firefox, I've disabled all add-ons/plug-ins/extensions. I've also tried the sites with other browsers (so, yes, I know it's not just Firefox, but I was hoping maybe you could help anyway...) Thank you.

I have a clients Windows 10 Pro PC that recently installed a windows update (KB402271 and KB4023834 are the main Windows 10 updates). The Creators Update has not been installed.

Since the update, Firefox opens very slowly BUT will not connect to any Website - although Internet Explorer will. I have been through the troubleshooting including uninstalling and re-installing Firefox BUT it made no difference.

Is there a known problem and solution.

I HAD Firefox on my laptop and it was working fine. Had some problems with my ISP but thought it was my laptop so made the mistake of uninstalling Firefox. Got my ISP back up and re-installed Firefox but now can't connect to my Firefox account because it says I'm NOT connected to the Internet - gives me a Secure Connection Failed error. I need to sync my laptop to my PC, phone and tablet but can't even login to do so. I'm using a Windows 10 system on my laptop. I KNOW I'm connected to the Internet because the Edge browser on my laptop works fine.

Seriously. This is downright stupid. I attempted to download Firefox for the first time on this laptop and got a "This file is corrupt" error before the downloading portion was even done. I cancelled the download and retried and it went all the way though although it froze temporarily around the 66% mark and then finished. But after that I got "couldn't load XPCOM" so I did I completely uninstalled Firefox and then attempted to reinstall and again at the 66% mark at downloading I got "Couldn't load XPCOM"...the heck is going on with this oversized hunk of junk?

Is there any way to fix this? Thank you!
