Earlier today I was having problems with Firefox remembering my user ID's. I did a refresh of Firefox and that solved the problem. However it also did away with my tool bar. I followed instruction and put History and Bookmarks in the toolbar but all I got were the icons and not the labels in text. This happened maybe a year ago and I got an answer as how to change it to texts but I can't remember. We prefer the History and Bookmarks in text rather than icons. It must have been pretty simple if I could follow the instructions to get it done. Could someone tutor me again to accomplish this. Thanks, Larry

Whenever I start Firefox, with normally not more than a couple of tabs, do some work, then drink coffee, screensaver activates, and when I return, the window of Firefox is suddenly (after the last update 133.0.3) is a very small one, left top corner of the screen. I read in the update descriptions, that this problem was supposed to be resolved in version 133.0.3, but present in version 133.0.0. Seems like for me that didn't work, I got it installed when updating. I went looking for others with similar issues, found a couple with tab problems, and also sometimes it's not a Firefox problem, but more a screensaver issue.

Some technical details: Windows 11 Pro (24H2, updated 1/1/2025, 26100.2605)

Firefox Browser click-and-drag window move prompts unwanted window auto-resize

Regarding Firefox Browser 133.0.3 (aarch64) running on a MacBook Pro, macOS 15.0.1 (24A348):

Click-and-drag movement of open windows to a different point on screen, typically toward upper left, periodically results in an automatically activated resizing of the window (to occupy more of the screen). The change is not to a full-screen mode, just larger—filling in open desktop space created by the window move.

Please advise, what control can be reset to stop this unhelpful, and uninvited (now default) browser operation?

Note, (1) we have searched Support posts and articles without finding an answer. And (2), the bug or glitch being queried is a serious enough aggravation in our daily work, that we will consider abandoning Firefox as a default browser if we do not find an easy, permanent solution.

When I search on the NTP or Homepage, the sidebar/tab-bar expands on my left with the different websites search previews. When I use my mouse to click on one of the suggested sites it does not take me to the website, it goes blank. But when I use the keyboard arrows to choose a site then press enter, only then it opens the website.

Hope I made it clear enough?

Thanks,

Have been using Firefox 133.03 on Mint 22 Cinnamon for a couple of weeks now, but I have a number of randomly missing favicons in my bookmark toolbar. I have extensively googled the issue and tried pretty much all the remedies I could find: just click on the place holder icon to refresh, delete the bookmark and place it again, use the Checkmark extension, check the integrity of the favicon DB, delete the favicon and places.sqlite files, clear the cache. Doing these things repeatedly and repeatedly restarting Firefox, I could claw back a number of my icons, but now things have stalled and there a quite a few holdouts that refuse to update. I'm also using Firefox on Windows without these issues. Would appreciate some hints as to how to further troubleshoot this.

I have recently got a new work laptop and have imported my bookmarks and passwords. However, I am unable to get the bookmarks toolbar to show up? The usual way of enabling it to always show or only show on new tabs doesn't work and I have a message on the toolbar that says "For quick access, place your bookmarks here on the bookmarks toolbar. Manage Bookmarks..." But nothing works. Please can you assist as it is driving me nuts.

Hello all,

Ever since an update to Firefox from a few weeks ago, I have been having issues with white backgrounds displaying incorrectly in Firefox. I have attached two identical images from the NYT homepage: the first is a screenshot from Chrome and the second is the same exact image but taken from Firefox.

I have also attached another screenshot taken in Firefox from REI.com. You'll see that it's not necessarily just a white background that is causing the weird blue color. It also happens in products images being displayed incorrectly.

I figured this might be a Firefox website appearance setting, but I have played around with it and selected many different permutations and I haven't been able to solve this issue. I have also tried refreshing Firefox, using Firefox in Safemode, disabling all of my plugins/themes, etc. and nothing was fixed.

I am pretty sure this isn't a system wide issue or a monitor issue because these websites are being displayed 100% correct in Chrome and Edge. This is only an issue in Firefox.

Can someone advise?

Thanks,

DC

Today the icons on New Tab have been resized which makes it difficult to see the differences. As seen in the attached images the logo icons have been reduced in size but the generic letter icons have had their outside edges overlain with the border. Not only has the visible area of the thumbnail been reduced but the title for each of the icons has also been truncated. Another thing to note is there is also more vertical space between the icons.

When I looked into this further I found information about the about:config page. As per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1338808 I found and edited the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabExperience.enabled key to false. This did not change the icon size.

I also noticed the next key browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabLayouts.variant-b So I changed it from true to false. This seemed to work... Hooray!!!

Unfortunately after I closed and reopened firefox the small icons were back.

Please help, the shortcut icons are only helpful if they are readable and identifiable.
