Restarting Firefox in safe mode made no difference. The file name and location are valid but the file is not created, only a shortcut. Restarting the computer made no difference either.

For some reason the little star icon at the far right of the URL address/search bar that indicates if the site is in your bookmarks is not showing up. Is there a way to get it back other then doing a refresh or reinstalling Firefox? I do see the star when I right click on the window to bring up the context-menu.

When clicking Bookmarks, BookMark This Page, I used to get a drop down box to let me choose the folder. Now it puts the new bookmark in Other Bookmarks and gives no choice. I am afraid I changed a setting somehow. I cannot omagine Firefox woyud take this away. I am on 7-.0.1 for 64 bit.
How do I keep the location bar from storing history under the blue drop down triangle after I close foxfire?? some are recent bookmarks

My wife's Mac wasn't syncing, so I signed in to turn on syncing. When I did, it synced her old stuff to my computer, and now I've lost all the newer pword hints

I often put a string of characters in the bookmark name to remind me which passwords to use. When I signed my wife's Mac in to sync so that she would have my bookmarks, sync changed all my bookmarks to match hers, instead of syncing the most current ones (which were on my Mac) to hers. I have another Mac that is set to sync -- but which I have not turned on, and which has the newer bookmark names. How do I sync the bookmarks on that Mac to these two that now are showing hints that are more than a year old and have changed? I'm afraid to turn on that Mac now, because if I do, it may get synced to the old bookmark names, and I'll lose all my easy references to passwords, and I'll have to go into Keychain and manually change everything back.

To amend my previous question, I "right clicked" on the 1Password icon and then selected move to menu, after which the 1Password icon disappeared for ever.
Don't know what happened to the 1Password icon in the status portion of the menu bar. And I don't know how to get it back.

I want to be able to bookmark genealogy sources from personal, work, and library computers, and then bring them ALL together into Firefox bookmarks on my HOME computer. When using work, friends, or library computers (any computer other than my own, actually). I would like to "login" to a cloud based bookmarking system, update ONE set of permanent bookmarks there with NEW links, and then, finally, merge (or SYNC) that online set to my permanent Firefox bookmarks on my HOME computer system. Can anyone out there suggest a CLOUD BASED system capable of handling 1000s of bookmarks in nested folders, just like Firefox, which I could then IMPORT into FIREFOX on my HOME computer each time updates are added, thus maintaining the same folder structure???

I then imported the bookmarks into Firefox on the laptop. They were magically added to the bookmarks on my desktop. It took a long time to delete the extraneous bookmarks.
How do I avoid this?

I have tried everything from uninstalling to re-installing firefox also deleting old Files leftover from uninstalling. tried add ons disabled, updated windows. Nothing has helped. The explorer box will not pop up to choose my bookmarks file to restore. Nothing happens. Also the Backup bookmarks function does not work.
