When I put the contents of my backup profile in a newly created profile or the initial profile, set firefox to load that profile automatically, and load firefox, it doesn't see anything from the backup. profiles.ini is set to use that profile.

Even if I delete every profile and create a new one, it doesn't see the stuff from the backup.

What can I look into to figure out why this isn't working? Is there some kind of settings file?

I keep getting asked to put mozilla on my phone... I don't have a smart phone - I am 60 years old and don't intend to get one.... I don't want to be pestered with things like this. If there is a button for me to pick saying don't ask again I can click it and go on my way... I am sure I am not the only person using your services that does not need all the bells and whistles...

Installed an update because the programme told me to do so. Now, dont have shortcut to bookmarks at top and half of them have dissapeared. Security programmes such as ghostery have disapeared. This is not good. Youre becoming like google!

According to the Task Manager, when FF tries to start it stops booting at around 9,700-9,800K. This is pretty consistent. Right now it is at 9,764K. Last time I tried there was another FF file that went up to 34,XXXK. This time not.

I tried doing a System Restore but it did not complete because some of the files could not be updated.

Found an exe files for my version, installed that, still the same problem. I thought that maybe the exe file was damaged, but the new one does exactly the same thing.

So many help screens say go to the Menu but that is not possible when it won't even boot up!

I did not install any software or do anything to the computer before this. To make matters worse, somehow internet connection got disconnect. With much googling, found how to fix that.

I have saved my profile folder to the desktop because I cannot afford to lose all my bookmarks, etc.

Now what?

I am asking this question on a different computer as the laptop is too much of a pain to type on with that pad in the front. Besides, without FF..... So no automated info gathering will help you.

I tried opening Opera which I have on that laptop and it won't even start at all! Chrome does, that's how I downloaded a new exe file.

Hi! Not much on details. I just want to move my existing profile to a server. Can I just copy name.default to the server, rename name.default on the client, and on the client create a link name.default to the server profile? Or, can I use ProfileManager to create a new profile on the server and copy the contents of the client profile to the new one?

I have a question to ask. what can be done about a Firefox update which loads it's self. Stopping a train of thought. By the time it has installed i have forgottenwhat i wanted to ask. There must be many 'silver surfers' out there who suffer the same sort of problem. Anyone got an answer?

Dear audience

I have troubles that when I copy Firefox profile to another computer, the web extensions does not work.

Sometimes helps to restart Firefox to safe-mode and then back to normal. But always works when on a new computer I disable extensions and enabled them back on.

If I remember correctly, this behavior started with Firefox 68.

OS: Windows 10 Firefox: 77.0.1, 64bit, English

Do anyone know why this is happening, and hot to correct it? Is there any preference that should be modified?

I should have mentioned that the uneducated answer provided could not even be replied to. A good way for the uneducated robot to hide, you get one try and that’s it. Then as I said they moved on to something easy and that does not require any brain power. Mozilla might be around for a while longer, however if this is the way they want to treat clients they may not last too long.
