FFox settings do not survive restart.

This is entirely new. Permissions are confirmed, tested, not involved.

I see a lot of people are having this problem. I do not see any solutions, just speculation.

Is anyone troubleshooting this? Can we expect a fix?

I use manual proxy setup. my proxy needs a login and password for authorization. The first time I started Firefox I entered them and everything worked, but the second time I started it the proxy stopped working. When I close the browser, a window asking for login and password opens. If I enter my username and password again, nothing changes. So, when I close the browser, the window that should appear at the beginning appears. I hope for your help.

Hey everyone,

Just noticed that while my Firefox extensions sync across my devices, the pins for these extensions in the toolbar don't. I get my extensions, but I have to pin them every time I switch devices. Is this expected behavior, or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? (And if it is - why?)

Thanks for any help!

When a new profile is created from the command line with `firefox -CreateProfile <name>` Firefox creates a profile directory containing a single file named "times.json". The profile directory is initialized (with 70 or so more files, 16MB or so in total) when Firefox opens the profile for the first time - in my use-case by doing `firefox -P <name>`. I see that this process spawns several sub processes and would like to know which one is responsible for generating the profile files/directories so I can detect when it has completed.

Alternatively - can you point me at the source code responsible so I can figure it out from there. If, for example, there is a manifest of profile files/directories to be created I could perhaps use that to verify when the initialization process is complete.

My system is Linux, but I am looking for solution that works on any platform.

Many thanks.

Hello,

I know Mozilla already released statement about the eIDAS proposal.

In case it will go through, there is possibility of "last resort" change by using X.509 name constraints extension.

I'd need a really technical person that understands RFC 5280 from Mozilla to check if it is actionable as last resort, not sure if all of the options proposed will work (I don't have time to test every browser).

The proposal in short imposes X.509 "name constraints" extension for the EU states' X.509 certificates, or make it opt-in.

Since I can't add the proposal as text attachment, here is link to the Markdown text, the part with the 3 options is the important part in this case:

When I click on Email link... from the menu, or mailto: on a web page, Thunderbird's New Message opens with some default settings, ignoring mine. I always compose messages in plain text, but Firefox opens HTML message. I noticed this behaviour today, on Ubuntu 22.04 machine with Firefox 119.0.1 and Thunderbird 115.4.1. I don't know, whether it's a fault of Firefox or Thunderbird, so I try it here first.

I'm using last release Firefox in a fresh install of Debian 12 with KDE. Trying to personalize colors and get a coherent style, I've installed Firefox Color and it worked fine, except for a few GUI elements.

But this is a little more than merely cosmetic. The save (and open) dialog is very different from those provided by the WM. (kwin)

They need double click to navigate through folders and the subfolders don't get grouped before the regular files. Also the appearance is different both to KDE widgets and to Firefox theme.

Is there a way to show "native" dialogs or at least to customize them to be more similar?

TIA,

 Nico

Up to four or so days ago I was able to fire up my Linux and Firefox and had immediate access to both Gmail and Calendar. Now I am requested to sign in every time, are offered a Shareable Calendar (for which I have no use) and get a notification in my cell phone reporting a new login. Also, WhatsApp Web is requiring to link with my phone every time I want to use it in my laptop.

I'm using Firefox 120.0 and this behavior appears to have started after the upgrade. I have also Vivaldi installed and its operation with the above pages is normal.

This is most annoying. Have security rules been changed? Am I doing something wrong? Will appreciate any help you can provide.

I am running Mozilla Firefox on two laptops each of which is running Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS. In both cases Firefox is installed by the Debian/Ubuntu 'snap' program.

On the first of these two machines -- the only less frequently used or updated -- "About Mozilla Firefox" shows that I am running:

Firefox Browser 118.0.2 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002-1.0

On this machine I see this on the command-line:

Calling: '$ ls -ltr /snap/slack' shows that the current 'snap' is 113, created Nov 1. The date on the symlink between '/snap/slack/current/ and '113' is Nov 9, suggesting that I was prompted to run 'snap' and upgrade Firefox on Nov 9.

On this first machine, Firefox is performing as intended.

On the second machine, however, a more recent version of Firefox is blurring photos on at least one important website. (As far as I can tell, all other rendering of web pages is satisfactory.) The information on the second machine is:

Firefox Browser 120.0 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002-1.0

From this machine's command-line:

$ ls -ltr /snap/firefox total 0 drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 201 Nov 6 18:34 3358 drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 201 Nov 16 17:34 3416 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Nov 23 21:37 current -> 3416

This suggests that Ubuntu build build 3416 on Nov 16 and that I was prompted to install it on Nov 23. That's 2 days before I am writing this bug report, and that duration is roughly the duration in which I have observed this blurring problem.

The problem occurs at this website:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/

On this page, the photos are all in sharp focus and everything else is being rendered as expected. See: Screenshot from 2023-11-25 17-02-46.png

However, if I right-click on any URL or photo on the home page to take me to the page for a specific article, I get a blurred photo. Example:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2023/11/25/zoom-fatigue-brain-heart-effects/

Note how blurry this photo is. See: Screenshot from 2023-11-25 17-03-39.png

This blurriness does *not* happen with the older version of Firefox on my first machine. My inference is that there was some change between 118.0.2 and 120.0 that is failing to correctly process data coming from this website. Suggestions?

Yo, Linux sysadmin here and been using Firefox forever.  Surprisingly I have this ancient 12 year old System76 laptop that I use for nearly everything (got a newer Lenovo that I been meaning to switch to but no time).

Using Debian 12/13 with Gnome 43.6/X11.  Can't quite figure out this issue though.  Besides being a sysadmin, can have other side jobs/projects going on as well, so can have 5-10 windows open in different workspaces, sometimes with hundreds of tabs all together (big fan of the Auto Tab Discard add-on and about:memory Minimize Memory Usage to keep performance up and resource usage low).

Been noticing this issue for the last few versions where suddenly, after random amount of Firefox uptime (can be after days of perfect performance) my keyboard input aka typing gets extremely laggy, like 30 seconds behind for all keystrokes, except: Ctrl-F instantly brings up the Find in Page bar, and Ctrl-C instantly copies to clipboard.  Ctrl-V, however, 30 seconds lag, Ctrl-A also....  Mouse is fine though and can right-click and paste instantly or use other menu options.  Happens anywhere in Firefox too: in address bar, in the find text box, in the preferences, in my saved passwords, haven't found a place with no lag.

Have searched around for some hours now and only found suggestions to disable accessibility service, but accessibility service has already been disabled for a while now.  Everything else in my Gnome desktop session is running fine.  Restarting Firefox temporarily solves the issue but is highly annoying and interruptive with as much as I have going on sometimes.  Due to timing randomness, starting Firefox without certain add-ons is impossible as I can't spend days at a time without any of them.  Just have to open a text editor and type what I need to in there, then paste with mouse, until I can find a good stopping place to restart Firefox.

Have included most of the info from about:support in the Troubleshooting Information.  Spent quite a bit of time looking at all my modified preferences, nothing popped out but if there's something you think I could include to help, let me know. Thanks

Like many people, I have professional and personal email accounts. A long time ago, before Pocket was a part of Firefox, I created a Pocket account associated with my personal email address. And, at some point I associated Firefox with my professional email address. Now that Pocket is a part of the Firefox family and there is a push to use the Firefox login as the Pocket login, I'd like to unify these accounts. The Pocket login using my personal email address has clearly now become its own Firefox account. So, when I try to make one email address the secondary for the other Firefox account, that is disallowed with the popup saying that the account (associated with that email) already exists. Is there a simple solution? Or, is the easiest way to continue having two Firefox accounts, one I only use for Pocket?

No problem with chrome.

Any ideas ?

If you drag text onto a Firefox window, it interprets that text as a URL and goes to that page. This is a problem because the only time I drag and drop text onto a Firefox windows is a password from my password manager. If I slightly miss the text box, it interprets the password as a URL and tries to go to it. This (a) Does a DNS lookup of the password. As there usually won't be a valid extension, I expect this only gets as far as my router, but it's still not ideal. (b) The page I was on has now gone, replaced with the "Couldn't connect to server" page, so I need to start again. Usually this is just a login page, which isn't a massive issue, but if it's a registration page I lose all the data I'd entered on that page, and even if it is just a login page, some badly implemented sites can lose information if you step out of the workflow.

Just wanted to share some weird adventure on StemDeck !

Version was 118. Stopped working. No sync, no home page, no re-opening previous pages at launch. If you type a page, it opens but the rest is dead. I tried to delete all data, reinstall Firefox : nothing changed. I uninstalled, removed any data (in the folder then click the button to remove data in "Discover" software -> Firefox Page). Nothing worked BUT When I clocked "Report a bug" in this Discover page, magically, it opened a fixed Firefox. I re-synced my account and everything works beautifully. Don't ask me why xD

Currently running ChromeOS and I have successfully run the Desktop install via crostini / debian which is now using Firefox-esr 115. By default via about:support we can see the it is running xwayland. I decided to search and find a way to run strictly wayland, with the following terminal command 'MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox' which succeeds in running it with wayland.

Note: Added benefit is touch responsiveness works by default, a key feature for most ChromeOS devices. It also makes it much easier to stop using Chrome Browser on ChromeOS devices.

Please enable this feature by default, thanks!

Firefox 102.15.1esr(64-bit) on linux. Using Chrome 117.0.5938.62 on the same machine I can see the cookie from Webkeycard.com being passed in a request from keyboxmail.com in a fetch call to webkeycard. In Firefox, there are no cors errors, the response.ok is true, but the credentials are *NOT* included in the fetch. Not in the headers, not in the cookie tab. There is absolutely nothing I can find that shows something is wrong.

The call to fetch(): credentials: "include" method post headers {"content-type": application/json"}

My webkeycard cookies (examined in a webkeycard session) seems good.

httponly is true, (but I don't support http)

secure true, samesite none.

The cors response does include "keyboxmail.com"

HTTP/2 204 No Content date: Thu, 12 Oct 2023 13:51:39 GMT vary: Origin access-control-allow-origin: https://keyboxmail.com access-control-allow-credentials: true access-control-allow-methods: GET,POST,OPTIONS access-control-allow-headers: content-type xcontent-security-policy: default-src 'self'; content-security-policy: connect-src 'self'; script-src https://webkeycard.com; cf-cache-status: DYNAMIC report-to: {"endpoints":[{"url":"https:\/\/a.nel.cloudflare.com\/report\/v3?s=dl1Y6Om7%2Bse%2Bl%2FIck8uQxTceVHCL%2F9tRBu%2BhBycJiARr4Q1dXEy9KxvU%2BRWocq0tX3fuAYRm%2FcBR%2FhtvFQsjvdzPqxwGLqo%2FlOVF%2F4GJzBpN3ANUyYkDlmC9Z%2BNd5TmQvg%3D%3D"}],"group":"cf-nel","max_age":604800} nel: {"success_fraction":0,"report_to":"cf-nel","max_age":604800} server: cloudflare cf-ray: 814fd19d791bc3f3-EWR alt-svc: h3=":443"; ma=86400 X-Firefox-Spdy: h2

One final note is that this is *NOT* user initiated. When the keyboxmail ui starts, it immediately attempts to find out if there is an account on webkeycard.

What makes this hard is that chrome (which I don't like but need to support) works

Any ideas, lines of attack?

On a broader note, webkeycard is something like "login with apple" but with anonymity. I have a working implementation using an "intent" kind of mechanism. keyboxmail server does a fetch to webkeycard server on receipt of a "getuser()" request. An "intent" is stored in a db on kbx, the user is sent a url, goes to wkc, blah, blah blah. I am trying to replace this complex interaction with the kbx user just fetching a token from wkc. Maybe this is a bad idea?

Thanks
