I have updated and rinsed my password in Firefox, so now i have 48 saved logins. When I later installed a password manager I did a import from Firefox. But, the password manager found and imported 103 passwords! From what can see I think they are old passwords that I have deleted. If I open saved password in Firefox there are only 48 passwords... So where does the password manager find the other 55 ones?

Please help, this is kind of worrying. If one delete password they should be gone!

When i go to another website it doesnt matter what website i go to i sends me back to my homepage AFTER ive typed in the address. Its the correct address but keep getting sent back twice before i can only then go to that website. I thought the problem might have been my OS ( windows 10 Pro 64 bit) 20h2 Latest build but its not. Ive gone as far to even doing a clean install ( fresh) of windows 10 Pro 64 bit. IM running ublock and the Kaspersky Protection for plugins and have tried removing\disabling them at times to see if they are the problem also with no luck. Im running Firefox Version 85.0.1 ( 64 bit)

When watching Channel 4 programmes over the Internet, I have recently experienced sound distortion.

This does not occur whilst the adverts are playing! It does not occur with Youtube videos or other streaming websites. It is accentuated when moving my mouse.

So far I have tried numerous fixes without success, including changing the mouse, reinstalling Firefox, etc. but the problem continues.

I do not seem to have the problem with Opera (sorry).

Have recent updates with Firefox caused this problem?

Can you suggest any fixes?

RAW DATA IS NOW AVAILABLE BELOW.

THIS IS THE START OF THE ORIGINAL POST (the new stuff is way below):

The most recent version of Firefox for Windows 10 repeatedly crashes. So far it has not occurred with other browsers. It occurs when I scroll and reach a point on a web page that contains an embedded video. As it does not always happen, I assume there must be a separate trigger (cause) not just that there is a video. I suspect it is the size of the video but I have no idea how to check.

The crash begins with the Windows system stalling - Windows hangs. Firefox then changes to an all-white window. After a few seconds, the text and images return but the video section is black with a warning that it is locked out of the graphics hardware. The laptop also display a notification saying the same (see attached image). Videos will not play until Windows is rebooted. Restarting firefox doesn't help.

I can't be certain but I think that a separate similar symptom is the same problem; Windows stalls briefly from time to time but then comes back after just a few seconds, at most.

My Win 10 system is fully up-to-date.

Checking for solutions on the internet, I have updated the display adapter [Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620] driver. This had zero effect. I have also run System File Checker and DISM commands (as per instructions at https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/application-blocked-accessing-graphics-hardware-error-windows-10-solved/). This also had no effect.

I have now uninstalled the most recent version of Firefox (85) 64-bit. I have installed 82.0.3 (64-bit). So far it has not crashed, even when playing the same video that appeared to cause the last crash: the video is on https://returntonow.net/2020/10/12/forest-garden-with-500-kinds-of-food-requires-only-a-few-hours-of-work-per-month/ and it's direct address is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GJFL0MD9fc&feature=emb_rel_end)

I now appear to be stuck, unable to use the most recent version so forced to stay on an outdated Firefox 82.0.3. If anyone can explain how to fix this problem, I'd be grateful

System details in the attached image.

THIS IS ADDITIONAL INFO:

It's been a week and nobody has helped. I am nearing to point where Firefox will be useless to me.

As I scroll past embedded videos, Firefox still stalls, whites out and then the error message is presented telling me the "Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware". So, in the hope it would help, I went into OPTIONS, There, I attempted to block autoplay and sound from ALL videos. I ticked the appropriate box in the Security and Privacy tab. That had zero effect, videos still auto-played. SO I went back and unticked, then ticked the box again. that did nothing. Then I repeated that, closed Firefox, reopened it and still videos autoplayed. Then I went into about:config. Then I applied all of the following values:

   media.autoplay.default = 5 [0:allow; 1:blockAudible; 5:blockAll]
   media.autoplay.allow-extension-background-pages = false
   media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true
   media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed = false

And firefox remains the same, videos still autoplay. What the hell is going on?

Hello,

I've got stacked when using Firefox on my WSL 2 instance. I introduced firefox on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on WSL 2 as usual, and starting from the command line produced the following error messages:
      1. !!! [Parent][RunMessage] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv
The browser starts with a window from WSL 2 command line, but all tabs repeat crashes and cannot use any more.
My full error messages are attached as a text file in this post.
Ordinarily, this glitch can be solved by using a hack that shows "about:config" and proceed with changing settings of two values of entry "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" and "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" to false. Actually my other firefox instace on WSL could solve this problem, but this time, I cannot solve this. Firefox keeps crashing after altering these two settings.
I tried to make some other workarounds, such as manipulating SELinux parater mozilla_plugin_can_network_connect to "-1", but I found SELinux was disabled in my WSL 2 at all.
I guess something on IPC function is missing or broken, due to for example lack of appropriate packages, but I cannot specify the solution.
Here is my enviroment in trouble:
  • Firefox version: 85.0 (latest on Ubuntu)
  • OS version: 20.04 LTS (with all latest patches applied)
  • System: WSL 2 (on Windows 10 Pro 20H2 64 bit)
  • X Application: VcXsrv 1.20.9.0 (maybe the latest)
Other GUI applications run flawlessly as far as I confirm.
  Any comments and suggestions appreciated.

I have 2 questions. 1) I don't understand why Firefox often "closes badly". During a restart, I often get the error message "we must close the old Firefox". It happened even after a complete restart of the computer. How do you close it completely the first time? 2) I have used Dark Reader which has a good reputation and is useful. However, it slowed Firefox down considerably until it crashed. I deleted it, but some of the pages it had blacked out ... remain so when I reload them. How to solve this problem.

Every search seems to deal with the toolbar. My issue is at the very top, above where the tabs are. (see screenshot)

I got a Fitbit. Now there is a fitbit icon up there and I don't know how to remove it. Same with the Malware Bytes one; I removed that program eons ago but the stupid icon remains.

Anyone know how to get rid of those little guys up there if I don't want them. (I do like the time machine, battery, and others)

I'm trying out Firefox 85.0 on Wayland (not XWayland) on Ubuntu 20.10. When scrolling a page and letting go, the kinetic scrolling is taking off like a rocket, as though the average user is more interested in reading a random paragraph 5 km down the page as opposed to scrolling half a page down to the next paragraph...

Everything works fine in macOS -- no insane speeds there.

How do I fine-tune this?

Preferrably I'd like to fine-tune the actual scroll acceleration since that part of the experience is also way off and about 20x faster than it needs to be for 99.9% of all scroll actions. If that would solve the above problem by decreasing the speed while increasing the deceleration upon release of the scroll gesture, then even better.

Firefox 85.0 in Wayland (not XWayland) scrolls far too fast when I use scroll gestures on my trackpad. I believe I have the same problem on XWayland too.

Since the values are not properly adjusted out of the box I'm assuming that they can't be adjusted properly beforehand, but then I'm confused as to why I can't seem to easily find where to adjust them myself, considering that that's necessary by design.

I can't find these settings anywhere. How do I do this?

The note with drawing works fine in Brave and Edge, but not Firefox. I've tried disabling add-ons and reverted back to Standard version of Enhanced Tracking. Still not working in FF. Maybe this is just a Chromium feature?? I'm on Ff 85.0.1. Let me know if any other information would be useful. Thanks for your thoughts!
