I am dealing with a government website. All of the government forms are available as PDFs on this website. However if I try to download a form the site looks at the browser description and does not see Adobe Acrobat installed on my system, so it returns a text document telling me to install Adobe Acrobat release 8 or higher. I cannot install Adobe Acrobat because Adobe does not support Linux. I don't need to install Adobe because Firefox, Chrome, and every other browser on the market has builtin support for PDF. How do I customize Firefox to LIE to the website and say that Adobe Acrobat is installed?

In Google Chrome, if you fill in the first letters of a website you want to visit, the browser will autocomplete the name and give you the option to press the tab key and search that website. Why doesn't FF have this function?

I know there is a system with keywords, but this is less efficient I think. You have to set up the keyword and then remember it. I don't think the keyword system itself is bad, but I don't see why there couldn't be a 'tab to search' function with all possible websites, in addition to the keywords system.

In short, I am looking for the Firefox 68 armhf deb? package installation file for Raspberry Pi OS (Raspbian) 10.

---

I use Raspbian 10 (Raspberry Pi OS). I used to keep a Firefox ESR 68 on hold (apt-mark hold) on 1 of my 2 Raspberry Pi machines. I offered this machine to a friend.

Now on my only left Raspberry Pi, Firefox ESR 68 is no longer provided by apt.

But I still need Firefox 68 on it, in order to remotely debug my userscripts on Firefox for Android 68.11.0 (latest version to support add-ons like Violentmonkey, thus userscripts) through adb.

Anyone knows how to install it back? I think I need an armhf.deb file, right?

I found: http://legacy.raspbian.org/raspbian/pool/main/f/firefox-esr/ https://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/pool/main/f/firefox-esr/ https://github.com/jdonald/firefox-armhf/releases

But no trace of a version 68 deb file.

I then found some firefox-68.11.0esr.tar.bz2 in https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/68.11.0esr/linux-x86_64/ Is x86_64 same as armhf? How do we install .tar.bz2 files in Linux?

I also see a firefox-68.11.0esr.snap in https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/68.11.0esr/snap/ I would like to avoid installing snap but maybe I should try this instead, does it include armhf?

Hello!

I perform some translations through address bar searches, which use the URL of a translation engine (Bing/Google translate).

One thing that I couldn't solve is how to encode newlines. Sometimes, the text to translate includes newlines. When I copy/paste, the address bar flattens the text, entirely removing the newlines. For longer texts, this makes reading the translated text more difficult, because the result is a single, very long, line.

I've tried pasting "%0A" and "\n", but they are encoded.

Is there any way to encode a newline via copy/paste into the address bar search URL?

Thanks.

Moin, I activated the HTTPS-only mode as I used the "https everywhere" plugin so far.

But, in a very special network segment for radio amateurs, the 44-network (ampr.org) encryption is not allowed. So is there a way to configure the HTTPS-only mode in a way to say ".... but not for 44.0.0.0/8?

i prefer one configuration than constantly clicking the "continue to http site" button for the next few years.

Thanks in advanced

I have already: Ruled out fixes for very old Firefox versions, still online. Tried every preference, library, and bookmarking tool in menu. The three dots does not provide that choice. (It is the FIRST thing I tried.) Used the terminal to sudo apt-get purge Firefox and Used terminal to sudo apt install Firefox. Repeated above procedure after signing out, to stop any starless syncing. Signed back in. I had it when this computer was new, and I then installed Firefox, less than a year ago, Ubuntu canonical 20.04. Reinstalling should have the quick-bookmark star as I had when first installed. I have not: Selected "remove data from device". Next solution that actually works?

Hi,

The privacy and security settings don't work on Firefox 88 on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS). Many sites will offer the option to 'Login with google/facebook/whatever' rather than creating a new account for that specific site. One really annoying (and dangerous) consequence of 'logging in with google' is that it remains logged in. So for example if I log in to non-google siteX using my google credentials and then hours later open gmail in a different tab I get straight through to my gmail inbox without having to supply any credentials (and indeed any other user of the same machine could do the same). Obviously this highly insecure and dangerous policy of keeping me logged in indefinitely is implemented by Google for their own agenda and has nothing to do with Firefox. The bug in Firefox is that when I clear all data to work around this google problem FIREFOX does not work as advertised. So to try to 'force' a logout from my Google account I go to Firefox -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies & Site Data -> Clear Data, after a few minutes of churning away at my harddrive Firefox informs me that 'Your stored cookies, site data, and cache are currently using 0 bytes of disk space.' For good measure I then hit the 'Clear History' button. After this I open a fresh tab and go to gmail and I get straight into my inbox, no credentials required, so clearly Firfox is NOT deleting all cookies etc and is mis-reporting that 0 bytes are being used. So, does anyone know where/how I should report this dangerous privacy bug ?

Thanks MH

Is it possible to create a whitelist for when I deleting cookies and history at once? Recently, the number of sites that log in and authenticate by reading the QR code with a smartphone has increased, so I do not want to whitelist and delete cookie of such sites. It's very annoying to re-authenticate with your smartphone every time. But other than that, I want to delete everything every time I log off.

Firefox lost all my logins/passwords. This happened last year and now it happens again. I've tried to find the old logins.json file and of course it does not work with it. It is empty. I'm using linux and there is no problem with any antivirus, it is simply a Firefox 'classical' error!

WHY is this happening? What is in the mind of the programmer responsible for this error? I can't understand why is he unable to keep a single file intact?

Why Mozilla is blaming the user for not having a backup. Firefox is messing this file, not the user! Why don't you fix Firefox and stop blaming the user? Why don't you simply FIX THE PROBLEM? You are "working on it" for years. Is it rocket science to JUST LET THE FILE ALONE?

I appreciate the team at Mozilla regularly updating Firefox. What I am frustrated with is that the update will stop me in the middle of my working through Firefox, to shut down and update immediately. Is there any way to change it so that it will update when I choose, when I shut down Firefox (which I do every time I finish using it) instead of in the middle of what I am doing?

Thanks for your help.
