Hi everyone,

I am running Firefox 91.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5 and just noticed that all my addons have been disabled and can't re-enable them.

Some of them are quite common modules such as Disconnect or Privacy Badger, so wondering what this may be.

There is a similar post on this forum dating back to 2019 and it mentioned a fix on Firefox was to be developped.

Anyone experiencing the same issue at the moment.?

Please see attached screenshot.

Kind regards,

Alex

When video/audio starts playing on a browser, the tab title displays 'playing' text. This additional line resizes the window height and causes the tab content to resize too. For example youtube starts resizing video window height and width - and this is very annoying. How do I remove 'playing' text from tab FOREVER?

I did the test at https://test.amiunique.org/?consent=1 and as a result got this: 16 potentially detected lists (over 292) - These filter lists will be used to generate an unique identifier. -see attached screenshot

Also, if any website of your choice creates a unique identifer on me by using the filter list, as long as i use the exact same filters as another person, could it be that the uniqure identififer is the same for me and the other person or a group of many persons/devices using this exact filter list? I mean.. if my list is the same as someone else they will be identically which means it doesn't matter i am unique identifyed because after all im not unique but only in a list of devices using a specific filter?

And i must say that now, if you go to https://test.amiunique.org and do the test, then klick the shield icon, how pathethic is that amount of trackers, social media trackers, and even cryptominers!?!?

When I want a URL, I type it in the address bar. Search has no relevance to a URL, and any intervention of Search gets in the way, and creates errors.

When I click in the search bar, it's because I want a keyword search with one of the search engines. A search is not a URL.

They are two completely different things, and treating either one as the other is error. I do not want Firefox to kidnap my cursor and teleport it to somewhere I didn't click. They are two entirely different spaces, they are not interchangeable. When I click in the search bar, it's because I want a search. Don't you dare second guess me and change my click to the address bar.

How do I turn off this stupid stupid stupid error behavior of FIrefox?

I tried this and it didn't work. In about:config • keyword.enabled and toggle it from True to False. • browser.fixup.alternate.enabled and toggle it from True to False.

Hello,

I did some changes to the browser according to a privacy guide: https://restoreprivacy.com/firefox-privacy/

When I now watch a video, while the overlay is there, the over a third of the video height is full of green horizontal stripes.

I can't figure out which change to the browser leads to this.

Do you have any idea?

I have an account on usps.com (the post office). Using FireFox, I am unable to see or use my address book on that site. USPS tech support says it's there and also says FireFox is the most problematic web browser of all. USPS tech support says to use ANYTHING but Firefox.

Yes, I have cleared my cache and cookies multiple times in an effort to solve the problem. And doing so does not solve the problem.

I can use IE or Chrome to access USPS.com and I can see my address book!

In other 'apps' on windows 10 the tooltip is above the pointer or below it. In Firefox it is directly under the mouse. So usually any tooltip popup in firefox is unreadable, mostly. One can infer the content sometimes.

How do i change that? Or what is the problem?

I'll try and include a screenshot. Hmm, the screenshot didn't include the mouse. I think i can do a video with OBS and then a screenshot of that.

Interesting, somehow in the screenshot from the obs video it shows 2 mouse pointers. One is very small and the tooltip is just below that, but the other is larger (the one I see) and it covers the tooltip. I'm using the standard windows mouse settings for larger mouse pointers. I just tried using the 'old' mouse settings to select a larger mouse and it behaves the same way. If I select size: 1 in the new size settings, and the old settings i have 'windows system' mouse, then the tooltip is under the pointer but the size is too small for the pointer. I then changed to another mouse setting in the old selector "inverted extra large" and you can see the tooltip because of the 'inverted' nature of the pointer, but the tooltip is still partially covered by the pointer.

Ideally the choice would be to put the tooltip above the mouse pointer rather than below. When you increase the size of the mouse pointer it only increases down, not up. The point of the pointer is always at the top.

I'm going to try one more thing, increasing the size in the new settings after having selected "inverted", but i recall that it changes to the new pointer style. Ah, there is an inverted setting in the new options as well, and if i select that instead of the gray color i was using then one can read the tooltip through the mouse.

So, then my question becomes "can I put the tooltip above the mouse pointer?" Because it is still covered by the mouse pointer as is. I don't see anything in 'about:config', so far.

Thank you.

Hellow,

Since updating the latest firefox version 91.01 it has considerably slowed down browsing speed to an impossible crawl. The task manager shows the update as permanently on, sucking 100% resources. There´s something not right when it does this, and is becoming a bad habit of constantly refreshing firefox to get sensible operation.

It started by installing a clear cache which helped as firefox also hangs when connecting to the internet as a result it goes off-line at random times. Barely ideal.

Is it worth rolling back to an earlier version that is more stable ? Any other users got debugging suggestions ?

I had this issue and was not certain where the problem occurs, either the browser, my computer, or the applications involved. I could not find the problem by googling a solution so I tried to isolate the source of the problem. The images are not the issue; I can move and view them using a variety of apps. I shutdown and restarted windows 10, cleared cookies and data, and tried another browser (Chrome was downloaded and opened as a guest) . That's where I finally had some success. I was able to login to eBay and upload photos. I believe something is corrupted with FF. Has this type of problem been noticed and resolved before?

Is there even a single website left on this planet left that does not have a deal with google or facebook? I mean im here at firefox support to push my privacy and while i do that im being tracked by google. Ironic right?! What even is the reason "mozilla org - non profit organisation" allowed google to install their trackers here, money? Source: https://pagexray.fouanalytics.com/q/support.mozilla.org

support.mozilla.org static-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net stats.g.doubleclick.net www.google-analytics.com www.googletagmanager.com location.services.mozilla.com

The last four urls appear to be trackers..

Dont get me wrong. Mozilla Firefox is great browser but some things dont seem well. What is the logic using a "privacy browser" that comes with google as search engine? That is privacy one the left hand and tracking on the right hand. Ofcourse it's very easy to change the search engine and you mozilla does this because of money, i get it... but still you get my point? Basically... google is tracking when, where, and whoever they can to collect, analyse and sell data of individual human beings. And basically... Mozilla takes that bloody money from google to create a privacy seach engine, ironic right?! Anyone got any toughts on this?

And honestly, while i have been using Firefox for years, i feel that firefox has changed alot and i am not sure if i can trust mozilla anymore. There are multiple reasons for that. 1 - The partnership with google (ok i get it, its the money) 2 - Telemetry active by default... 3 - Pushing pocket and sync... 4 - New cringe modern style that looks similar to bigtech like google or instagram. I man look at the firefox logo, what the hell happened? This doesn't even look like firefox anymore... Honestly! Look at it! The old Fox was amazing, now it just looks like garbage, and after all this is not just my opinion but it is the very truth.

Take a look at this: https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/org.mozilla.firefox/latest/

                               https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/com.brave.browser/latest/

This i firefox VS brave in terms of privacy. brave appears to have zero trackers while firefox has 3... Those are only the mobile app/apk versions, i dont know if that also goes for the desktop installer, do you? If firefox desktop also has those trackers i would like to know how to block them.

Hello My Firefox browser stopped working suddenly. I used it this morning (11/12/21) without issue but when I tried it around 6PM CST US I got PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR on everything I tried to load. There was no updates that I am aware of and I tried all of the solutions provided on sites I visited up to and including disabling anti-virus with no success. For now I've uninstalled the product until a solution has been found. Thank you to anyone who may be able to assist in this problem. All other browsers I've tried work as expected.

Hello,

I'm using Firefox 91.4.1esr (64-bit) from Debian repositories on Bullseye. Every time I open Firefox, a window with a greeting message appears ("Say hello to a new Firefox"), and it doesn't matter if, as asked by that window, I choose a theme or not. Is this issue related to my settings? Is this a Debian issue? Is it possible to stop that window from reappearing?

Thanks in advance. And many thanks for making Firefox (I've been using it for so many years I can't recall when I tried it for the first time).

I dont care what you are going to say to make it sound okay, it is NOT OKAY AT ALL. Mozilla Firefox supposed to be a Privacy Browser is not making business with Meta -> Facebook, lately i really question the mental health of Mozilla, first a unique identifier, now a partnership with zucking facebook, what's next? Let me tell you something, if you are a privacy company then get the zuck away from companies who don't give a damn zuck about privacy -> facebook, mozilla can NOT simply make a deal with facebook and claim "oh dont worry it's ok your privacy is secure, bullsh!t.

You know what, i have been using Firefox since i first accessed the internet with a webbrowser, now hear this -> one more negative thing from mozilla and that's it, bye mozilla you have lost your way.

While this is only me speaking here, MANY people have already quit firefox because of what mozilla has been doing recently. Continue what you are doing now, and soon your greatest product -> firefox will be dead. When privacy partners with tracking & spyware this is the definition of suicidal behaviour. I really worry about Mozillas Mental Health lately.

I will copy paste this post to a few other mozilla releated forums, let's see how long it stays on before censorship happens.

Here a few comments from reddit users on this topic:

The article says what it says, but we all have a long memory of Facebook/ Rebranded Facebook being a company that is horrible, and not to be trusted when they put out a press release. -Nailed it

I’ve been using Firefox since like 2002. I never stopped. I really hope I don’t have to soon. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. -Nailed it

Facebook is one company you should keep away as far as possible. -Nailed it

Then read the article, and see that this is a case of Mozilla working with Meta to maintain privacy. -This person must have mental issues, time to see a doctor asap!

Hello,

I have 3 different profiles and I'd like to have a visual indication of the currently active profile. I've found that using themes is the best option (a red theme for production, green for test, grey for default) but I can't prevent Firefox Sync to sync the active theme between my profiles.

I have set both services.sync.prefs.sync.extensions.activeThemeID and services.sync.prefs.sync.lightweightThemes to false and restarted all my Firefox profiles.

After a while, all windows/profiles are synced to the same theme.

Are those settings really read by Firefox Sync ? I'm on Windows 10, Firefox 91.10.0esr (32-bit)

Thanks in advance for your help !

Since Firefox was last updated, I now no longer have the ability to access some websites such as Google, Wikipedia, and Amazon without Firefox prompting me to type something to search within those sites even though all I want to do is go to the home page.

I can still get there by typing http:// in front of it but I shouldn't have to and if I change the settings to add the search in the toolbar and then try going to "amazon.com", for example, I'm still being prompted to use the address bar to search.

Is there a way to fully disable this prompt so I can type in "google.com" or "amazon.com" without getting the search prompt?

For the past couple of weeks I am not able to log in to AA.com. When I fill in the require fields ( AAdvantage # or username, Last name, Password), it redirects to https://www.aa.com/sorry.html. I have no problem logging in on one of the other major web browsers. Ad blocker is turned off, cache has been cleared, all the tricks that usually solve such problems.
