a website im using is trin to call an api with referer header and policy of "origin-when-cross-origin", but firefox overides it to "Same Origin Policy" with console msg: Referrer Policy: Less restricted policies, including ‘no-referrer-when-downgrade’, ‘origin-when-cross-origin’ and ‘unsafe-url’, will be ignored soon for the cross-site request

After a lot of search, i found that network.http.referer.disallowCrossSiteRelaxingDefault config setting should be set to false to allow any policy, but toggling between false or true has no affect. The request still fails with a cors error "Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at..."

Is there a way to make this work? Or a way to allow the request to have this referer policy.

DO NOT COPY AND PASTE! This is not written correctly! Someone please help with this or correct the code. I tried different ways to do this and nothing works ---- I am beyond frustrated with it.

Security features warning

You may see a warning that “some of Firefox’s security features may offer less protection on your current operating system”.

The sandbox in Firefox makes use of unprivileged user namespaces when creating new processes for enforcing more security. This can be considered a security risk, therefore some Linux distributions have started to restrict its usage and only allow it to work where there is an AppArmor profile.

Such profiles can only cover a limited set of installations paths, including Snap and Debian packages. They cannot however cover some other use cases, such as tarball installations as well as local development builds.

To create an AppArmor profile for Firefox:

In /etc/apparmor.d/, create a file with the name firefox-local

In the file, add the following:

  1. This profile allows everything and only exists to give the
  2. application a name instead of having the label "unconfined"

abi <abi/4.0>, include <tunables/global> profile firefox-local /home/<USER>/bin/firefox/{firefox,firefox-bin,updater} flags=(unconfined) {

   userns,
   # Site-specific additions and overrides. See local/README for details.
   include if exists <local/firefox>

}

Replace <USER> with your Linux user name. This assumes the Firefox install is at $HOME/bin/

Once you have saved the file, run sudo systemctl restart apparmor.service in the Linux terminal.

I am trying to connect with my utility provider online. When I try to log in, I give my name and password. It comes up with a CAPTCHA screen. I click on the items but I just keep getting another screen. After a dozen screens it says CAPTCHA will time out in 2 minutes.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be blocking it?

I've been looking at firewall logs for my client and router software firewalls. My 3rd party firewall flags repeated outgoing TCP packets to IP 34.149.100.209 as coming from Firefox and 'Restricted', although restricted is the firewall apps syntax. When I look at the router firewall on WAN it was seeing the same IP outgoing. These packets only originate when Firefox (latest version) opens. Perhaps there's nothing to worry about or it's there to poll for those who want to select a Google search engine? Anyway, I've added a rule in the router to block the IP, although I think Google use other IPs.

There is plenty of web discussion to REMOVE restricted from Firefox but I want to make sure 'Restricted' in my case means BLOCKED, is that possible or do I misunderstand what restricted means? Thanks

Hi, my account seems to have some kind of admin or enterprise control on it, but I'm not part of an organization. It says:

Information Your browser is being managed by your organization.

I don't know how to fix this, but it is keeping me from updating and doing other things like clearing cache and adjusting my settings.

How can I fix this?

I don't know how it happened.

Thank you

Hello,

So, I got the "Restart to keep using Firefox message" while working to make sure that certain HIPPA protected data. I cannot close out of the browser because I am in an incognito window.

Is there a way to pause the message or can I only prevent it by disabling automatic updates?

P.S. So I work in the very sensitive part of Data Engineering e911 that deals with medical patient reports that given ONLY to the doctor at the hospital when the fire department drops you off at a Hospital. Because of extremely sensitive nature some of the specific report fields, I am not longer legally allowed (by HIPPA as old as the law is) to use browsers like chrome. So, I have to use browser like Firefox that are still in compliance. I want Firefox to update, but I want to choose when it updates (on the first weekend when there is a national fire or storm disaster happening... which technically will be this first Saturday since the update on the 15th).

Subject: Clarification on Adding Username and Password to Proxy Settings

Dear Firefox Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek clarification regarding the configuration of proxy settings in Firefox. Specifically, I would like to understand how to include a username and password along with the IP and port address when configuring a proxy server.

Currently, I can enter the IP and port address in the network settings, but I am unsure how to include authentication details, such as a username and password, for proxies that require them. Is this feature natively supported in Firefox, and if so, could you please guide me through the steps to set it up?

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards, Emmanuel

I have a flag that says my Browser is managed by the Organization. I cant find any help on HOW to fix it, I only find pages telling me things that make no sense to me as a sole user. None of my other computer have this flag on the settings page.

How do I remove this or changes this setting, since it makes me feel like some outside agency has tried to control the browser

I'm using Linux Mint cinnamon 22 and have the latest version of Firefox installed or updated from the app updates. Firefox was already installed and is my preferred browser. But i have the problem when i go to the settings page i see a message on top (picture attached with this post) that says "Your browser is manged by your organization".

Which is simply not true. This is my personal laptop and it belongs to me. I see an answer from Linux mint devs that they will take it up with Mozilla. But that was three years ago. Can this message be ignored or is it still the case? For peace of mind, how do i verify that something is not managing my device?
