I'm using Windows 10 and just updated to Firefox 78.0.1 last night. Normally, when I open a new tab, I push the down arrow key to bring up my browser history and access my most-used sites. Upon updating last night, I discovered that I can no longer do this. When I press the down key, nothing happens. To get the same result I'm used to, I have to press the space bar, but I've been doing this a certain way for several years and the motion is completely ingrained in me. If I turn Top Sites back on in the options, the drop-down list will open upon pressing the down key, but that of course only brings up the Top Sites. That's not what I want. I tried rolling back to the previous version, 77.0.1, but that didn't fix anything. If I create a new profile, the problem persists. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I know it sounds like an extremely minor issue, and maybe that's true, but I just want to use my browser the way I like using it. I'd appreciate any help/input.

Also, I suppose I should mention that I didn't make any changes to my preferences prior to this issue.

After the latest update on firefox I am no longer able to give facebook the permissions to use my Microphone which means i can no longer make calls. My hardware and software for my headset is up to date, as i use it on Discord with no issues what so ever. when i go into Privacy & security and click on Microphone permissions, it has removed all the websites that i have previously given permission to use it and am unable to add any new ones, the block new requests asking to access your microphone is also unchecked, this is really starting to frustrate me and hope it can get fixed ASAP

Updated firefox to 78.0.1 and now some websites aren't appearing in the drop down address bar. Before the update I counted 10 entries in the drop down menu and currently I'm at 8. However, if I enter the key "^" key I see the original 10. Is there anyway to make this original 10 appear by default?

Hi All,

Not sure when this changed but noticed that a recent update changed how the JSON Response Payload is shown.

The old way can be seen in this Firefox Documentation https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Network_Monitor/request_details#Response

See attached Image "old.png"

Now see the attached "new.png". As you can see, the Object is summarized and shown on the same line as the Object's parent. This looks very messy when viewing large and/or complicated JSON.

Can someone please help me out to get the old view back?

Sorry if this is already answered. I already did try searching the Net and Firefox forums.

Thanks, Dil

I am a long time user of FF but since the last updates the home page setting in options does not save or work. Keeps giving me a blank page. If I use the home icon on the tool bar, it is correct but on start up, only a blank even though it set for something else. Seems odd that it won't work correctly on startup. I am using win7 64 bit PC.

Hello, I was wondering is it possible to get Reader Mode on PC to fill the whole screen space instead of the stripe in the middle? Its quite useful for getting only the relevant text out of a web page and yet it feels the amount of screen space that's actually useful is becoming less and less lately. (I'm hoping for a solution that doesn't include any scripts, but if they're necessary I'd welcome any solution really)

I have a dual screen windows 10 system. I use both Firefox and Chrome. Chrome is set as my default browser because I use many Google apps. However, when I search the internet and open non-google programs I use Firefox. I would like to have Firefox always open on a designated screen. Is there a way I can set Firefox to always default to a designated screen.

I look forward to your answer.

A while ago firefox started to take over as the program for mailto:. I even tried to stop it by changing firefox mailto to use outlook. Didn't help. I don't often use mailto, but I noticed it when I started outlook it said it wasn't the default program for everything and asked if I wanted to set it. Kept happening. Eventually I looked into default options for outlook and found mailto was set to firefox.

THEN I opened a downloaded PDF from a different browser and it opened it in firefox. I have Nuance PDF. And yes, now often when I start that it tells me that it's not the default.

And yes, I have or set the program for PDFs in FF to be Nuance PDF.

Outside of stopping using firefox, how do I get it to stop inserting itself as the default program? YES, at times I set FF to the default browser; did some recent upgrade make it mean to also set it to the default for all programs, and how can I set it to the default browser (which I do for some things I want to run at times), without stealing all the progam defaults?

WIn7Pro, FF 78.0.1 (64-bit)

Tnx,

This issue is common to all browsers, but with how customizable Firefox is, I'm hoping it might help me circumvent the issue somehow.

My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I use Windows settings to scale elements to 125% because my eyes are bad and I want to see the Windows and other software's interfaces better. As a result, the inside of Firefox, websites themselves, are also scaled. My resolution is reported as 1536 x 864 pixels. In most scenarios, this isn't really a problem, since in theory zooming out to 80% restores a website's appearance to normal.

But while developing, it can be weird. For instance, when using mobile simulation mode. And the reflex of pressing Ctrl+0 to restore default appearance is deeply ingraned. Also when someone tells me there's a problem with the website at X zoom, I have to calculate what that zoom level is equal to for me.

So I'm wondering if there's something I can do, other than fiddle with zoom all the time, to see what my website actually looks like while keeping my interface enlarged.

Revert to previous PDF preview behaviour

Until recently, when I clicked on a pdf link, Firefox would load the PDF file as a preview, treating it (on the user end) much like any other webpage but with a download button available. If I then clicked on the download button, it would be saved in my downloads folder, and clicking the saved file in Firefox's download links would open it in my default PDF viewer (ie Acrobat). This allowed me to easily look at PDF files without cluttering up Firefox's downloads list, as well as quickly open a downloaded PDF in Acrobat.

Following a recent update to Firefox, these options seem to have been changed and I can't find a way to revert to the previous behaviour. It seems to be treating the in-browser function as a full PDF viewer, rather than a preview. I can set Firefox to open PDFs in Acrobat, but then it downloads every link I click on which happens to be a PDF and opens them all in Acrobat. Or I can tell it to open them in the browser, but then if I want to open a PDF in Acrobat I have to download it, then hunt for it in my downloads folder and open it there rather than directly in Firefox. It also clutters up my downloads list, making it harder to find slightly older downloads without going through file explorer.

Alternatively, I can tell Firefox to ask me what to do every time. This is a bit better (a new option "open with firefox" has been added), but still involves making a couple of extra clicks each time I open a PDF - and it still insists on downloading every PDF based link I click.

What makes this particularly strange is that the in-browser PDF viewer still has a "download" button, which has the traditional two "open with___"/"save file" options, even though as far as I can tell it will only display stuff it's already downloaded.

Is it possible to return to Firefox's previous behaviour, or is it gone for good?

This started only recently (a few days). I keep Firefox up to date. Recently though every time I click on a text box or a drop-down or a button I get these light blue highlighting boxes that are driving me crazy:

I've been on a search for results and used three or four different css additions that don't work (focus and outline derivatives).

There is nothing in accessibility settings (Mac 10.11.6) on my computer.
