I believe I had all this synced in Firefox Settings before I made the upgrade. Like all you fellow former users of Windows 10, I had to upgrade to Windows 11; and did so two days ago. Now, I found that I do not have under History any of the former sites I not only visited but also had tabs open. What can I do, if anything, to recover them? Under the Add-ons Manager, if this helps, I already had the app Tab Session Manager, but don't know how to use it. Thanks to all in advance who may have made this same upgrade. Many out there are still on Windows 10.

I have rebooted my computer and when Firefox is restarted all the bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar are gone. I have Firefox set to sync these bookmarks on all devices and am concerned if I just initiate a new sync then the bookmarks will be deleted from all other devices instead of reloading them all from the Mozilla server. How can I force a reload of all sync'd bookmarks from the Mozilla server to my Firefox on this computer?

I have had a firefox account for the past 1 year I have browsed a lot of sites in that 1 year and had a few bookmarks too. I used to regularly sync the account too. Today after a normal browsing session I closed firefox. After I opened it up again it had automatically signed me out. When I signed back in, I saw that my whole history had been wiped, everything from the past 1 year. Now there is no trace of it. Please tell me what might have happened. Everything is gone. I can provide my account name and details. Please help

Dear Firefox Support Team,

I am writing to urgently request your assistance regarding a critical data loss issue with my Firefox account.

Recently, I reset my Firefox account password because I could not remember the original one. However, I was not informed or clearly notified during the reset process that resetting my password without a recovery key would result in the permanent loss of my synced data, including saved bookmarks, passwords, and other browser data.

Unfortunately, this Firefox account was the only place where I had stored this important information, and I had no separate backup of the data elsewhere. I understand that for security and encryption reasons, data cannot always be recovered—but I believe users should be more explicitly warned during the password reset process.

When downloading Firefox I wasn't asked for the recovery key only my password. The Firefox page is almost unusable. Please help me to regain what I had before.

So I had logged into this Firefox account, but while I was, I forgot my password. I needed to enter the correct code from the email, but I lost the recovery key; I needed to enter in the 2FA code from my phone, then I could now change the password. When I logged in, boom, bookmarks gone. Passwords gone, and browsing history gone. I was waiting for it all to sync, but it had probably synced the deletion of everything possibly. I have no idea what happened, but I do not believe my account was compromised, because I did not get any emails about any new logins. If it is encrypted, how can I decrypt it so I can get my stuff back? Thanks.

I was signed out from my Firefox-Account on my PC for no apparent reason. I reset my Firefox Sync Password today and when I checked my saved passwords they were empty. In my profile folder there is a logins.json.corrupt file which probably contains all my saved passwords. How can I recover them and why doesn't Firefox sync them back like it's supposed to?

Thank you.

Hi,

I can't seem to retrieve all of my Firefox bookmarks or passwords on this new mac laptop. My other (mac) one fried. I thought everything was saved on Firefox. Tried to sync from phone (android) too. Therefore, I'm having a hard time logging into certain accounts, which I depend on Firefox for my saved passwords. (evidently that is a thing of the past and I will now write all passwords down in a safe place. Also does anyone know why when I scroll on my mouse I have to scroll up, in order to scroll down, more importantly how can I change it back. This is a new glitch. and I'd rather not get used to it! Please help if you can.

Thank you, techno dummy Noel lol

When using "about:support" on Firefox I'm not seeing my "profile path". Are there instructions on this method to make sure I don't loose all of my OneTab-tabs, or should I use another method? A FF comment: If you have a backup of this profile folder than you can restore your data...where do I find this folder?

You also suggest using a backup program--not sure what this means. How do I run backup software on my computer to restore my Firefox profile folder (a file path) ? I do have an external hard drive continuously backing up my files, however I don't know if this will back up browser settings/data whether it does or not- do I need to search for doing this from the manufacturer or from you.

Another suggestion from your help articles: If you don't use our "backup/sync feature, then the only way to recover the deleted data is if (a repeat of the above suggestion )you run backup software on your computer that can restore your Firefox profile folder.

I'm confused on what the backup/sync feature is referring to, unless you're talking (install FF on my Chromebook" so that it puts all my settings and data onto that device? ...sorry.

My problem is Microsoft is giving ppl until Oct 13th (2 weeks away) to upgrade to windows 11. I'm afraid I'll lose all of the FF windows and tabs that I moved into OneTab. This was hundreds of hours of work not to mention the amount of money I've paid to access these websites for research.

Any response would be greatly appreciated...I saw a comment that FF is working on a solution for this but I may not get it until it's to late.

~~Sharp63 (LOL I'm now 78)

OMG..I just saw and update available for FF. Based on what I just read, it's possible I'll lose all of the data in OneTab, What should I do...thinking! First thing is I'll look to see what the update is about, then decide.

I know the system backs up bookmarks every day or so. I want to migrate all to a new PC. With a new Laptop it seems to have done so automatically, maybe through synchronize feature, I am not sure how I did that . I normally export bookmarks to a external flash drive as HTML. Just did also to a .json file type cannot find how to do that. Which format and method will be best? Have all of the old PC backed up through Acronis full back up. Will that have the full Firefox program with the bookmarks?

Hi, I’ve lost all of my saved passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history in Firefox. I’ve been a Firefox user for over five years, always tied to the same Firefox account email. My laptop recently had to be repaired, and the technicians performed a full reboot. After getting it back and reinstalling Firefox, all my data was gone. I tried recovering an old profile, but the reboot erased everything, so there are no old profiles or local data left on the device. Since my Firefox account has always been connected to the same email, I was hoping all of my data would still be recoverable, but I haven’t had any success. This represents over five years of saved information, and I really need help to restore it. Can Firefox support assist me in recovering my data through my account? Thanks in advance.
