iMac macOS 11.5 Firefox 90.0.2

Firefox pretty much crashed every time I quit. Doesn't matter if I'm looking at a web page or close all windows before quitting.

Restarting in Trouble Shoot mode doesn't help either.

The cause seems to be synchronisation - if I sign out of my account and no longer synchronise, the problem goes away and I can quit without Firefox crashing.

On one computer I have deleted everything from Firefox including the folders within Apps Roaming except for one folder. There in one folder "41A66E7EE5E1" within Profiles which I cannot delete. It holds the files prefs.js and sessionCheckpoints.json which were created at 20/02/2021 and I cannot delete those.

My new installation is dated 24/07/2021.

There is nothing in the properties of those two files to suggest an issue. I do find however that when I seek to change the Property/Security to Administrator (I should be able to do that) I receive a dialog box that "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".

Please advise on how I address this.

Since a couple of weeks my Firefox browser for Windows 10 64bit has issues. Last update 90.0.2 did not work either, and the issues is still there.

Internet is extremly slow, some sites will not open and i cant logg in to Facebook.

Under settings,i have tried different settings. Right now i have the standard setting. Under Help,i have tried to restore, diagnos and clean catch and restart, but it has not solved the issue.

What could be causing these issues? Do i have to do some special settings or do i have to add some Add-ons/Extensions in order to have Firefox work normal again?

Since yesterday's update on my Windows 7, today I first got error messages on pages I usually visit, my home page and the Google signin page among my Favorites. The browser crashed when I tried to bring up Settings. Subsequently I could not open it again. I just shut down that computer in case repowering it solves the problem later. This is Mac Catalina. Firefox just updated here. I hope on this computer the problem does not surface.

Hi! Some days ago I started experiencing problems to load Google service webpages. For example sometimes youtube tells that there is a connection problem, when loading gmail I get " has experienced a network protocol violation that cannot be repaired". When I use other browser I can access to that services with no problem. I am in linux, and I have tried disabling all the add-ons, starting in "safe-mode" and rebooting my computer. At the beginning everything works fine, but after some time starts failing. I have tried with different Firefox versions, and the problems persists.

Hello.

90.0.2 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.

I noticed a lot of activity from my desktop computer to various ip's at bc.googleusercontent.com whenever I start, visit sites, or shut down firefox. I know this because I'm watching the tcp stream with tcpdump | grep 'googleusercontent'

This ONLY happens in Firefox not chrome or other browsers. Seeing this is a fresh install with no addons, tweaks, etc. I'd like to know WHY a fresh install of Firefox phones home to some googleusercontent user. See below snippet of logs:

Firefox become hopelessly show to play even 480p videos from youtube 90% CPU usage while playing 720p video from youtube freezing randomly. (same issue on other notebooks, so I have a strong feeling it is not a hardware/notebook related issue) Hardware:

  • CPU: i7-6500U
  • RAM: 8GB / DDR3
  • Video: Intel HD graphics
  • Memory usage never runs above 60%

OS: doesn't matter, experiencing same issue on windows 7/10 and linux.

to compare, same video 1080p/60Hz played with:

  • brave/chromium ~30..35% cpu
  • mpv playing same video directly from youtube ~ 19..25% cpu
  • Firefox - constantly freezing, youtube autmatically switching from 1080p to 720p, then to 480p, playing 480p @ 60..90% cpu usage

I have tried everything from this forum and from others - nothing helped.

And finally, last nail in a coffin - even my very old notebook Core2duo with 2GB ram playing 720p videos with brave browser without issues while firefox struggling to play 480p, constantly freezing and making notebook fan run like crazy.

Firefox is literally forcing me to use other browser.

Hello Mozilla Team,

I have a small problem.

My home server was killed by a flood, so I lost my password manager (2FA & recovery code). The geo backup was unfortunately a bit older and does not contain the data for my Mozilla account. This has now locked me out of my account, but I still want to delete it. I have read the article (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-if-im-locked-out-two-step-authentication), but I still have the right to delete my account and have my data deleted.

I would like to know who to email to get this started, Stay healthy, thanks for the help.

After the last update to version 90.0, I can't continue to use firefox browser. The problem is about opening google sites (youtube, gmail). Other websites seems to work normal, but I can't open youtube and gmail now (google.com itself works heavily). When I type url and click enter, it takes so much time to load, often not loading the site or partially load. Other browsers installed on the same system works normally with the "problematic" websites. I tried hard reload (ctrl+f5), cleaning all browser data, and uninstalling and reinstalling. None of the mentioned actions helped. Please help me to identify and solve the issue.

I was searching for some music online, and I came across a website. It redirected me to a duplicate page, that is designed exactly like Firefox Addons. Now that site automatically loads whenever I open my Firefox browser and keeps installing an addon without any permissions, even if the "Get addon" button isn't clicked. The URL of the site is https://black-mode-for-browser.site/Dark%20Fox%20%E2%80%93%20Get%20this%20Theme%20for%20%F0%9F%A6%8A%20Firefox%20(en-US).php. Please beware before checking on this link.

I've been using site https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite for years to log in to AOL email for years and now, with Firefox v90, it takes over 2 minutes to load. It takes only a couple seconds with the Edge browser. I've tried troubleshooting mode, a refresh and a complete re-installation without any improvement. This never happened in previous versions of Firefox.

Any help is appreciated, Gary S.

Mozilla has no true feedback page any more, so I chose to post here. I kept the "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" box unchecked since I began to use the Firefox browser (years ago). While I was researching a different issue, I found other users' posts about app.normandy. They all said that it allowed Mozilla to do what Mozilla promised not to do: run studies in violation of users' preference to opt out. Based on what I learned from those posts, I found where app.normandy was in my computer's about:config and toggled it to false. I want to thank those other users for their posts. Mozilla's explanation, also according to those posts, is that "Normandy is a collection of servers, workflows, and Firefox components that enables Mozilla to remote control Firefox clients in the wild based on precise criteria." Aside from whether or not Mozilla should be remote-controlling clients in this way, does it really consider all the diverse places in the world where its users live to be "in the wild?"
