I got a new Macbook Pro recently and set it up by basically copying my iMac onto it. All works great. Except that the MBP doesn't show up with it's synced open taps on my iMac or my iphone. The iMac doens't show up on the MBP either.

Have I maybe copied some setting that makes the two machines (iMAc and MBP) thinkt they're one and the same? How can I "separate" the devices so that they show up in each other's Synced Tabs lists, respectively?

I have used Firefox for a long time. I have many bookmarks, passwords etc on Firefox on my original PC.

Sadly the hard drive on my original PC has failed. I borrowed a laptop temporarily and signed into Firefox on that. My bookmarks did not transfer across and instead I had someone elses bookmarks but I wasn't too concerned as I was only borrowing the laptop.

I now have a new PC. I have restored my files from a backup external drive and I have signed into Firefox on this PC. However, all of my tabs and bookmarks have not come across. I have pressed sync but it has brought the bookmarks over from the laptop and not the bookmarks from my original PC.

How can I sync to the original PC that has all my bookmarks etc please? Or have I lost it all forever?

I've gone through every single support article on this topic and tried everything suggested and still no luck. This is my hail mary.

How I got here I needed to do a full wipe and reinstal of my macOS; this was conducted with the help of the Genuis bar. Upon reinstalling Firefox, I signed into my account and my bookmarks are all gone, records of them empty.

I should also note that nothing else ported over. No passwords, no browser extensions. Nada. The passowrds and extensions aren't a big deal. I use a 3rd-party password manager and can easily re-download the handful of extensions/widgets. But I heavily relied on bookmarks for both frequently visited sites and ones rarely-used which I knew were important for future reference. And I cannot remember 80% of them...

What else I've tried other than what's suggested in help article:

• Because I did not check to confirm which Firefox profile I've been signed into for ages and ages before doing the reset, I thought maybe I had just signed into the wrong one. I proceeded to try every other email address I have, including two from my old workplace. None of the other 5 emails had profiles created. I know this because it prompted the sign up userflow; create a password, etc.
• But I also know for a fact that the bookmarks were saved as part of a profile because I used the profile sync feature to auto-port all my bookmarks when I first got this Macbook a year and a bit ago.
• The folders where bookmark backup info is stored locally are empty... Clearly, it wasn't stored in my icloud documents (that's on me for not double-checking)
• I checked my other device (mobile phone) to see if I had firefox downloaded and was signed into the same account as the original, with the bookmarks still visible. Of course I didn't. I only use Safari on my phone 😭

• Is there some way of linking my MAC address with my IP address and using those to triangulate the correct profile?
• Because my computer got wiped and nothing is saved locally, my only hope is that my bookmarks are floating around the ether. If so, I just need to figure out how to find them.

Hey I've reinstalled my PC i installed Firefox. Login to Firefox Sync. And now it's empty. no tabs, no passwords, everything is gone. I usually do this every time and it work. I am sync my Android phone with all my passwords and bookmarks

Hi Guys, I'm having trouble logging into Firefox on any of my devices even though i can pass all the password & security steps. When logged in, it asks me if want to connect any other devices then immediately logs me out.

On my main laptop i have all my bookmarks & passwords working but am not logged in, but i want to replicate this on another laptop.

Any ideas?

In seeing other answers to this dilemma it presents another problem. I do use sync. But what troubles me is IF I need to give out the password for someone to use the internet that person now has access to my passwords. Since there seems no way, unless I shutoff sync. Is this correct? Should there be some Secondary password? Passwordpasswordpasswordpasswordetc.

i recently made a firefox account synced the data cuz i was getting a new pc. Then when i went to login with the same account none of my bookmarks, passwords or anything was there. It just gave me a fresh account.

Recently my PC has died from the hardware crash. So I've bought another PC and installed Firefox. While other browsers seem to nicely sync bookmarks and history from the previous PC, Firefox didn't do that although I have been logged into my Firefox account on both PCs and I can clearly see the other PC in devices using this account. I started using Chrome/Brave in order to be able to use profiles because I did not find that feature in Firefox. I really try to get away from google, so I searched extensively and found out: profiles do indeed exist as a feature in Firefox. My question now is: why are there no buttons or easily accessible settings (for example in connection with sync-settings) for using profiles and why does one need to type in strange things in the address bar to access the feature and even to start another instance of firefox with another profile?

My use case is this: I have a private profile, one for my job and one for union stuff which I don't want to mix into my job profile. Yet, on my home computer I'd like to have all three profiles running simultaneously. Sometimes one or more profiled windows have been closed down and I need to open a new window with a specific profile. I understand that I need to open a tab, type "about:profiles" and then scroll through a page with large amounts of techy information on all profiles and press the last one of four buttons under that profile.

I'm quite tech-savvy and typing "about:profiles" is doable for me, but it seems absurd, given that the feature is not sci-fi and is well visually accessible in other browsers (Chrome and Brave: rightclick on profilesymbol and choose from simple list).

I'm totally desperate: all the bookmarks (which I deleted about 5 years ago) have been restored since I started to use my old laptop again, which I hadn't used in years - what can I do? Out of nowhere I started having problems watching Videos on Twitch. So, after some Flatpak repairs and reinstalls, I decided to sync my data with Firefox Sync and remove it completely. For my surprise after reinstalling and logging in on Firefox Sync my only extensions and, what looks like part of my history were restored. Lost my session, custom tabs names etc.
