(For Forum Moderators: Please read /forums/forum-moderators/710264?last=59300)

Moderators, please read first before closing/removing this topic right away?
To those wanting to react here on this topic: please, also read ;)
Since my original posting https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997009 was closed because one of the moderators felt it was going off-topic (although it was red a lot and had 131 "have-this-problem" in just a few days), here a kind of re-opening but on-topic.
Why? Because I feel we have the right to express our feelings on this major change. And publicly there is actually only this forum where that can be done on the Mozilla.org domain.
Sure, the change is there and we have to live with it (if we choose to). But that doesn't mean we can not have our voice here because after many, many years of supporting FF with our use, we suddenly are facing a layout we were always running away from.
So yes, that can cause ranting and so on (within the forum rules of course) because people feel strongly about there beloved browser.
(edit rules link note the whole topic is ordinarily outside the scope of the forum ... Posts in the Mozilla support forum must be either questions about the use of Firefox, ... Users who post about things other than Mozilla support will be directed to an alternative discussion place .... . ~J99)

Plus this way you can centralize all the negatives here instead of a lot of separate postings about the same subject ;)
To the people reacting here in this topic: there is only 1 real way to let Mozilla itself know how you feel on the new lay out and that is not through this forum. The way is to go to https://input.mozilla.org/feedback/ and let it know there.
edit You need to use a supported Firefox to post Feedback so that will soon not be possible from Fx28 2nd edit. I was wrong feedback works with any version of Fiefpx now~J99

And I think when that is done in normal words (so no f*ck you rants and so on) and suggestions, then maybe, just maybe, it has some effect.
Also, there is an Mozilla support page with info on how to get the "old look" back, see How to make the new Firefox look like the old FirefoxBut it will only partly restore the old look, certain FF29 things can not be changed.

And yes, I myself am back to Firefox 28 which is not supported or suggested by Mozilla because it has things (bugs and security) that are not fixed in it. (Edit Please use Official downloads if you must downgrade links in Install an older version of Firefox and the growing list of exploits you will open yourself up to is listed here: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html ~J99)

I am not suggesting or advertising to others to do the same. It is a risk I am willing to take and only say it is an option.
edit My reason to go back to FF 28 is because that version still has the intuitive feel and look Firefox one was praised for. With a logical lay out and a good way to simply customize it (also in about:config).
For those who say/think "Come one man, stop whining! Grow up and just accept that Firefox has to go with its time!", to them I say: nope ;)

I did update to FF 29 and to my horror it just looks awful and makes no sense at all anymore :( Seems somehow FF thinks it's wise to make it look like other browsers :( I did try the "old look"-add on, did try the add-ons to get buttons back on the bottom (which is the most logical place for them), and so on. But the overall look just stays awful :( Until there is an option where I can get the real and logical version 28 layout back, where is a complete version of FF 28 so I can use a logical layout FF browser?

I recently removed the Stylish add-on from my browser. However I might have disabled it some time ago (I can't exactly recall) and I couldn't tell at the moment because I had just got the newest update.

Is there any file I can open to see a record/timeline or allow me to see what add-ons I disabled and when? Or anything else I could use?

Thanks.

(Removed beta link to 28. -m)

All the current changes for firefox seem oriented towards the tab computer market but unfortunately these tab computers are way to slow and underperform compared dramaticly compared to my desktop computer. Having tabs below is what makes my system functionality and workflow perform at its best. I often have up to 100 tabs open at a time when doing research but with every change by firefox this ability is more and more taken away. from right click send emails and now tabs cant be placed below its time for firefox to decide if its time for two different versions of there product to be made. One for the desktop and a seperate version for tablet computers. Having tabs above the address bar is just plain stupid when you have 100 tabs open ie it just doesnt work. My pc has 64 gigs of ram and a 6 cor processor and with every itereation of firefox for the past 4 years my ability to use the ability of my PC has been more and more removed. I seem to have no choice but to revert to an earlier version of firfox in order to at least keep some of the former functionality. I dont use touch functionality and yet the latest version seems complllletelly oriented towards touch computers and thats great but its been done at the expence of people like me who will never use this type of feature. Time to creat two seperate versions of Firfox one for people like me who have realy powerfull computers and many many many tabs open at a time and one for the tablet pc touch people who only have 1 or 2 tabs open at a time.

How can I configure the Tabs back where they are most useful, below the navigation bar?

I tried to use Firefox in three different computers but only in the one with over 4 GB of ram is usable. Why it uses so much RAM and renders so slow? Specially the scroll is really laggy.

I tried clean installations but they do not fix the issue.

When opening Firefox and Chrome and playing a video in YouTube, Firefox uses over 500 MB while Chrome uses less than 300 MB. Both with the same single addon.

Is there something that can be done to use Firefox in computers with less than 4 gb of RAM?

I saw the utter uselessness of version 29, removing many of the useful buttons etc. Once I saw it I pretty quickly went back up to v 28, a useful version. Since then it has gone back to v 29 4 times, despite being set to never update itself, precisely to avoid it doing this. Frankly this is a virus like behaviour. If the v29 was actually an improvement over 28 I would have updated to it, but it is crap so I do not want it. I have set everything to stop it updating and it just keeps updating itself to this useless version, probably going to have to go to pale moon now, a browser which seems to actually work and do what it is told.

Please, please revert this retro step in your next version. There's nothing that I'd call an improvement. And a leaky bandaid in the form of an addon is waste of good intentions.

This is a continuing problem that Firefox has had almost since it's inception. I have used it for years and this continues with every update, regardless of all the Mozilla assurances that it has FINALLY fixed the memory leak issue. It is now using almost 1G every time I use it. I DO NOT WANT TO USE FIREFOX IN SAFE MODE OR WITHOUT THE ADDONS! That is the main point of using this browser in the first place and if I have to use it without all of it's functions, why use it at all?! I have been loyal but your continuing pattern of ignoring or pretending to fix this issue shows a complete lack of concern or respect for your customers. Fix it or I am gone.

Anyone with a problem

Please update to the latest version of Firefox.
If you need help OR insist on using an older version of Firefox please see my post under
Thank you

Okay, I really really dislike the FF 29 layout and use of it. For me it makes no sense at all and find it also butt ugly. So did some searching and experimenting and thought I shared my finding so maybe others with the same opinion/feelings can benefit also.
There is the option for the Classic Theme Restorer but for me that is an add on that is way too complex for a simple task. So, not for me.

Here are the add-ons that make FF look old school with normal back- and forward button, a normal download window, add on bar and so on. Warning though: it is a minimalistic look. All the fancy non-productive nonsense and so on are gone. I use all this with FF 29 now and works (and looks) great.

1) LittleFox . This add-on makes everything "smaller". But as a kind of bonus it also gets the round buttons, tabs and so on out of the way. Info and download: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/littlefox-for-firefox/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/littlefox-for-firefox/

2) Addon Bar. A simple addon that adds the add-on bar, no need to restart FF. Info and download on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/

3) Backward and forward arrows: really great add-on that brings back the normal backward and forward option. Info and downlopad on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

4) Normal download window. I am very happy with this add on: the normal, down to earth and logical download manager. With download speed visible and so on. Info and download: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/downloads-window/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/downloads-window/

And that's it. Only four add ons to get FF back to it's great and logical layout it once had. If it is too minimal in your taste, I advise to not use the LittleFox add-on.

Edit.

I hope you do not mind, I have taken the liberty of editing the links so that they are capable of redirecting to other locales. So I removed the Dutch nl/
