Firefox's onboard spellchecker needs to go back to college, or probably high school! Every day I have several words with the dotted underline, telling me they're not words, or not spelled correctly. However, when checking the dictionary, I confirm that the spell-check feature is wrong, and I am correct! I don't want to disable it completely, as it does let me know when I've made a typo, which I can quickly correct, but it's a pain in the butt to keep having it say something's wrong with a word, and there's not... I honestly can't believe it can be that hard to use a source that's accurate, when it's something on everyone's screen that uses Firefox...

I don't see an option to restore previous session any more.

did some googling and found a reference to checking a box in option

it said that then it would be automatic.

so I check that and I'm waiting to see what's going to happen in future: it didn't make my previous session come back this time.

so the question is: Is this right? We must check that option and that's it? No way to go back to the old version method?

Hi. I'm experiencing issue when FF pops up new window (I need it this way), it pops up right behind taskbar, which I have on top of the screen (used to it since Amiga), so that I can't reach top of the popup to slide it or minimize etc. and have to stretch it a bit to get it bellow the taskbar. Annoying. I thought it is a Windows issue, but Chrome works well, no hiding popups, just alligning them bellow the taskbar. I don't wanna use Chrome, so please, let me know about workaround. Thanks. hippo

It used to be the case that, while scrolling, after taking my fingers away from the mousepad, that the pages I am viewing in Firefox would continue to move down, slowly coming to a halt. Now, instead, it comes to a sudden halt the moment I stop active scrolling, which honestly makes scrolling down long pages take a lot longer and I really just don't like how it feels. This only recently started happening, does anyone know how to make scrolling go back to the old way where it would keep moving in the direction you sent it in for a short while following?

Using Firefox default screen for Linux, how do I prevent search characters from being automatically entered on address bar when typing search characters on search bar. I only want search letters entered on search bar. I like to search with search bar only, not address bar. Is there a way to fix that or is it just something you have to live with?

This is plea for an immediate fix from anyone, anywhere that can do so.

FF update just done today June 14th, 2021 as effectively cut off any user with less than perfect depth, color, or acuity of vision. Whether using natural or lightbulbs or fireflies.

It also threw out most of the screen/toolbar settings!

This "upgrade" is going to drive me away from FF asap because neither of us can no longer read the screen!!!

Its the lack of contrast. It's the new, much smaller, default font size. And lack of demarcation to the tabs as they align with one another side by side. Like a snow-blind whiteout.

It also threw out most of the toolbar itself and altered many of the FF "setting" selections that were previously our defaults or elections.

These are basic attributes which the "upgrade" to FF has just unilaterally changed.

Now, as the user I have to 1) seek out and 2) comprehend more complex instructions like "about: config" and jockey between that and M'soft windows settings??? And then hope I get it right????

FYI I did try via another user-help response. Some relief there with font size, but it looks like a fun house mirror w/ weird size toolbar and onscreen font size. And it took me an hour and alot of holding my breath to see if I got it jiggered okay.

Or seek out and try out any number of color font/screen themes which might work well??-- if I were my grandkids gaming all night under the bedcovers.

Folks have graciously put in the time, effort and creativity to make various pretty and graphically appealing themes. Scrolled through pages and pages and have loaded over a dozen try-outs, but unusable/impractical.

I am not a expert user, dont want to become one, and if FF goes the way of the buffalo and the "vcr" programming (haha!) then so be it.

However, you have always had a great product, and we want you to continue to be successful!!

Why oh why is it fouled up so badly?? Please don't make me switch to gawd-awful Edge or other browser after being a loyal FF user for years!

I had to reconfigure the entire toolbar setup this afternoon so less- computer-capable, and more importantly less visually-able spouse could use his few desired websites. Wasted valuable hours on unnecessary and exhausting task.

Am going to attempt the revert to older version of FF as stated in another thread just so I can get back to work and keep my visually and computer challenged spouse happy!

Rarely write in to help sheets, forums or social sites, but this absolutely must be addressed!

FF staff PLEASE fix or at least make the former version more obviously, and readily available!!

Sincerely, loyal users

Hi,

I would like to create a pop-up blocker exception for a local temporary file like: file:///C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/Temp/DisplayURLs3227552811823012098.html

My firewall management tool generates a local report file, automatically opened by Firefox, but I can't add an exception like: "file:///C:" or "file:///C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/Temp/*"; it just does not work.

Thanks, Tom

I would like to get an actual answer to an archived question that I didn't find very useful. This is the one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1301997 . I have also attached an image of a reply to this question that I relate to a lot, but unfortunately it didn't get an answer. So, I would like to ask the same question as this guy asked: For privacy reasons, I would like to hide the notification bar that pops-up in front of all windows, showing the video's title and thumbnail, but not the function for Control Media Playback. Is it possible?

If you couldn't understand the question, I'll explain again. So I attached another image (the second one) for demonstration. This shows this pop-up that is hard to name, so I'll call it a pop-up;

I would like to hide the video title and thumbnail from this pop-up just for privacy reasons. I don't think this is currently possible because the only configuration I could find was "media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled", but if I disable it it would remove the function completely.

v89 significantly changed the "Top Sites" default icons. Is there an about:config setting that can be changed to revert to the v88 icons? (Setting browser.proton.enabled to FALSE had no effect on the default Top Sites Icons.)

BTW, I do not find the new default Top Sites Icons to be an improvement. On the contrary, the bright colors and large letter outlines are overbearing and distracting. I would prefer no icons to the v89 icons. The v88 (and prior) icons were okay. [In general, I found the v89 interface update a step backward from v88.]

Thank you for any assistance in finding a solution.

I keep my address bar and search bar separate. I wanted to have the address bar execute the search on the already open tab, and the search bar to open a new tab in the background without stealing the focus. I managed to set them up separately, now the address bar does not open a new tab and the search bar does, but the newly opened tab always steals the focus. I'm trying to keep the focus on the already open tab while the search bar opens a new tab without switching to it. Is there a way to achieve this?

Dear All,

I urgently need to retrieve various documents saved in the past as web pages with the Scrapbook extension which I found very easy and useful. Some of them date back to 2008. When I try to reactivate ScrapBook in "Add-ons and Themes" I find that ScrapBook is disabled and that there is no switch to re-enable it. i have access to the ScrapBook folder in the /home/.../.mozilla/firefox/********.default folder. Indeed I find in that folder a lot of data folders titled with the date and time of creation but it is very tedious to search. How can I reactivate ScrapBook or is there another way to easily access all these pages saved with ScrapBook? Firefox extension or standalone software?

Thanks in advance to all!

Once again Netflix isn't able to play the videos on the FireFox browser. It told me that my browser was not updated, so I updated the Add-ons and then I got the dreaded "Widevine has crashed" again. This happened before in April 2021? I think and then it was fixed. I hope the FireFox team sees this and is able to fix this bug again. Any other suggestions from other users are welcomed.

When is Mozilla going to stop making FireFox even less ADA Acceptable? Thousands, if not millions, choose FF because it is accessible. With each update starting with Quantum, FF has become less accessible. I am currently trying to find an accessibility attorney to file a discrimination claim against FF/Mozilla. Stop making thing broken by 'fixing' them. Thin lines. Thin fonts. Icons without text. Shaded colors with no definition. A tab line on top with hazzy shadows behind it. YUCK

People with vision issues such as early cataracts cannot see this crap.

I'm old school. My new tab and home page are my own. Sadly there has been a recent regression with respect to Containers with Firefox 89.0.1. I've been using Firefox Multi-Account Containers for a very long time. I've been using 7.3.0 since January. It seems no matter what I do it is now h*ll bent on prompting what container I want to open my home page in. It doesn't matter how many times I tell it not to do this on the "Open this site in your assigned container?" in the most recent version of Firefox all buttons related to opening in the Default container do not appear. I can tell it to "Remember my decision for this site" and open in the current container but that does nothing. It's right back to the prompting every time I open a tab. Has anyone found a way to end this extraneous prompting?
