Hi, Since the last update for Mozilla on the laptop (updated on 6/Oct/2025 - version 143.0.4 (64-bit)), all the shortcuts to websites in Firefox homepage I had pinned have disappeared. Also I can't add new shortcuts. I already have shortcuts enabled in Settings>Home>Firefox Home Content>Shortcuts.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Kind regards.

The scrollbar slider isn't displaying correctly. If I grab the screen, zoom in, and look very carefully, it is possible to see that the slider is a very slightly different darker shade of grey to the rest of the scrollbar, but it's almost impossible to see, so something is clearly not working properly here. The scrollbar should be highly visible as it's the most often-clicked control of the entire browser.

I am used to having a Firefox for my personal Mozilla account, bookmarks and sessions, and Firefox Developer Edition to be logged in my work account, where I could use everything I need to work in a separate environment.

Recently I changed a job. Logged out past-job@mail.com from Firefox Developer Edition, logged in with present-job@mail.com and... I still can see old bookmarks.

- I cleared history and new bookmarks: nothing
- went to about:preferences#privacy and clear all the data: bookmarks still there
- tried Help > More troubleshooting information > Refresh Firefox…: all the same
- reinstalled firefox@developer-edition with brew: nah
- eventually, logged out from presetn-job@mail.com in Firefox Developer Edition and personal@mail.com in Firefox; uninstalled both, deleted everything related to "mozilla" and "firefox" was able to find in my system: unsuccessfully

The last thing I didn't try yet is burning my laptop in favor to a new one.

Where are those bookmarks? Why nothing is helping?

I've been struggling for months to standardize a deployment of Firefox ESR across various client environments that reliably auto-updates and doesn't cause UAC prompts and XULRunner profile error pop-ups(I work in IT).

We deploy Firefox ESR in bulk on machines via a batch script which runs as SYSTEM, with msiexec /i and /qn flags.

Firefox installs fine, but then users are typically met with a UAC prompt when they first try to run Firefox. If they decline, then the UAC prompt comes back again next time and often fails to update at all, so the machine is left on an older, vulnerable version.

Regarding the environment: we have deployed the Firefox ESR admx templates and enabled the relevant auto update settings in Group Policy. But only some machines seem to stay up to date, and it seems like this only happens if a user with local administrative privileges has run the program at least once.

What I find unusual is that Firefox seems to attempt to make a "Background Updater" scheduled task for every user that runs the software on each PC, but these users do not have administrative privileges, and the scheduled task is set to only run when that user is logged in. Obviously a scheduled task running as a user with limited privileges isn't going to be able to update files in the Mozilla/Firefox subdirectory in "Program Files" as by default that's read-only access for non-admin users. And, obviously, if a user with local admin privileges DOES log into the machine, then it can update once, but then the scheduled task that it creates for that user (now with admin privileges) will only run when that user logs in - and we don't login as "admin"-privileged users day-to-day.

So, various machines are out of date, running vulnerable Firefox 128 instead of 140 or 142 even though they're all deployed from the same image and have the same policies and restrictions, and ran the same installer for Firefox.

Is there some reason why the auto update scheduled task isn't created at installation time, when administrative privileges have been granted? It's very odd that it doesn't, because then every time a user logs into a machine it seems like Firefox ESR creates the background upgrade task under a non-admin user which simply won't work. I see machines having 4 or 5 background upgrade scheduled tasks, all created by Firefox ESR, and yet the software still won't update - there's a UAC prompt every time the program launches, and going to Help -> About shows "Restart Firefox to update..." but then when clicking the button to restart Firefox, we get the UAC prompt, user doesn't have privileges, so this goes around and around in circles.

Is there a reliable way to keep Firefox up to date without manually logging into each machine and going through the UAC prompts? Can we manually create a scheduled task with the correct user account that has privileges to actually upgrade Firefox?

The background auto update mechanism simply doesn't make sense to our team on a machine-wide install.

Is it possible to make a donation to Mozilla without providing so much personal information? I got a message on Firefox today asking for a donation, but when I tried to do that, I was asked for my home address. It's a general rule of internet marketing that people who use the internet would rather do anything than pay for something, so it's bad psychology to impose unnecessary conditions when you're asking for a donation. I don't have to provide my home address when I make donations to other organisations, so why does Mozilla need my home address? I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I can't find anywhere else to ask it!

Thanks,

Shaun.

All of my bookmarks have been disappeared with a new automatic update (9/22) and now I'm left with no bookmarks at all. My other devices were not synced because my work computer needed different links saved. Any easy options for recovery? The bookmark management tool shows no options to import bookmarks and clicking any of the restore or import options does literally nothing. This is a huge issue for work flow and is putting me out of schedule. Why would an update remove ALL bookmarks? Seems like a serious over look in function.

After a re-start, my Firefox browser on a Dell laptop lost all history and has since also not been collecting websites visited. When opening a new tab, the shortcuts and recently visited websites are also gone and no longer being collected. My CCleaner recently updated itself to a new version but I unchecked the delete history for Firefox (which treacherously is clicked by default - I fell into that trap before). Happy to blame the new CCleaner but that would not explain why history is not being collected now - to me the fault seems to lie with Firefox instead. Another possibility that went through my mind: Is Microsoft sabotaging users of Windows 11 to force them to buy new? PS: Under "Privacy", "History", the setting is "Firefox will remember history", as it always has been and should be. But it has forgotten all previous history and it is no longer collecting any new history either!

I have Firefox installed on three Windows Desktop Computers. On one, I just cannot delete Bookmarks, no matter what suggestions I try. Verify Integrity of the database produced no results. Hello, due to problems with the Firefox Beta (for Android), I switched to the stable version. However, with this version I also encounterd some problems, mainly regarding the homepage: In the beta version collections are displayed (at the bottom) of the homepage. In my stable version, I cannot see the collections at all. I can still add sites to collections, and when doing so, all my collections are shown but I don't know how to access them. I could not find anything about it in the settings. Is this the regular behavior? If not, how can I change it?

Best regards
