i installed mozilla firefox last nite and started going thru the getting started material-my copy of mozilla does not show the yellow orange button

You're using Windows XP, so by default you have a menu bar instead of a Firefox button. You can right-click an empty area of the tab bar and uncheck "Menu Bar" if you want to switch.

It's a bit of a moot point, since in a couple of weeks or so, Firefox 29 will be released and it will have a ≡ Menu Button instead of the Firefox button.
