Hi, I am using Firefox Mobile on my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 with Samsung Android 4.3. I keep getting a notice that Firefox has stopped or stopped red. I forget which. There is a choice whether to report or not. After this Firefox is closed. It's very annoying How to solve this?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies, do the following:

  1. Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section Privacy & Security and select Clear private data.
  4. You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
    • Cookies & active logins
    • Cache
  5. After those have been selected, tap the Clear data button to actually clear the cache and cookies.

Thanks for your fast and clear response. I had no problem following your instructions. Now I have to wait and see if Firefox crashes again. Let's hope not. I'll let you know if the problem is solved.

Sure :)

Thanks

Well it did it again. After clearing the private data, I quit the program and rebooted. In less than 5 minutes it stopped. Too bad. Any other thoughts?

Have you tried to reset your Firefox browser in you cell phone. If not then try once, Reset of Firefox may solve many problems.

When you say reset do you mean quitting and then opening the app again? I actually had quit and restarted the phone before opening Firefox again.

Actually, if you did all these steps, and you have deleted all cookies and cache, that means your browser is like a new Android application which you have downloaded right now, so last option is that uninstall your Firefox and re-install it, sorry for that, but i think it will solve your problem.

I should have thought of that. I didn't want to lose my history, passwords and bookmarks. Actually I have lastpass installed but it is not recording my passwords. I am communicating with support to solve this. Is there any way to save history and bookmarks?

It didn't work. Firefox Mobile just crashed again. What else can I try other than a factory reset. Thanks

Do the hang dialogs stop appearing if you disable lastpass and any other extensions you are using?

I'll just disable all the addons and see if it happens again

Hi Lisa,

Has your problem been resolved or do you still require troubleshooting?

It's too soon to tell. I only got back to the browser now. I need to observe first to see if it still crashes. I will let you know either way. Thanks for the follow up. Regards, Lisa

No more crashes. What a relief. Now I would like to put some addons back. Rather I'd like to test those that are suspect as I think this will

Oops. I sent the last message accidentally. I wasn't finished yet. I'd like to start re-installing my addons starting with those that are suspect of you can identify any. This is going to be along process so the faster I can identify the culprit, the less time I will have to spend testing the addons one at a time. I can't figure out how to send you a file as that would be much faster. I will list them here : LastPass Fennec screen shot Bluehell firewall Quit now Phony add-block plus Facebook Phishing Protector Always zoom Less Spam, please Undo tab menus Pdf viewer Mobile password manager

That's it. Looking forward to your reply. Lisa

Sadly Firefox crashed again before I could enable any of the add-ons.

I sent the crash report. Is there any way for you to get ahold of it? I put my email address in the comments. Maybe it can be located that way.

Or is there a log on my phone that I could send you?

It's frustrating to have sent many crash reports. On some of them I have asked for feedback and included my email address in the comment section.

Let me know what is next I draw the line at a factory reset.

Thanks, Lisa

To be honest, I don't know if there is a process for retrieving crash reports on Android.

EDIT: I lied. The below method will work just fine to view crash ID's from Android.

You could try the normal way listed below:

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and paste them into your response here.

Thank you for your help!
