Website buttons/radio do not work. Specifically at www.cadillac.com the Build Your Own applet doesn't do anything when buttons/options selected.

I actually think this may be a Windows 8.1 question, but it is a problem in the browser.

The behavior is the same in Chrome. In IE 11 the page loads blank.

The subject site that is the problem is http://www.cadillac.com the "Build Your Own" applet displays everything wonderfully in Firefox and Chrome, but selecting any option does NOTHING.

It works fine on all browsers in Windows 7 and Windows XP.

I have cleared the cache, I have turned "OFF" the "no tracking" feature, meaning I am allowing the site to "track" me.

I only have Windows 7 to test on... Do you use different security software on your Windows 8 system? Otherwise, it's hard to think of any external factor that would affect a "normal" site in all browsers.

Just running Windows Defender that comes with Windows 8.

It was Windows 8 and a short while ago Windows 8.1 was offered via Windows Update. I upgraded.

I also recently upgraded to IE 11. I think My original Windows 8 came with IE 10.

When I had the problem with the Cadillac website I was finally fed up with having to add so many sites to the IE Compatibility View list, because so many just had problems in IE11... so I downloaded Firefox... then I had a problem there and downloaded Chrome.

Firefox and Chrome exhibit the same misbehavior. As I mentioned, IE "loads" the page, but it displays a blank page when that applet is loaded.

It is very mystifying.

Do you want to check for any obvious errors in Firefox's Browser Console?

You can open it using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+j
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Web Developer > Browser Console

Click the Clear button and "unclick" the CSS button.

Then switch back to your Cadillac tab and reload the page with the engines (e.g., http://www.cadillac.com/ats-luxury-sp.../build-your-own.html) bypassing the cache using Ctrl+Shift+r. This should force a fresh load and layout of the page.

Switch back to the Browser Console and you should see a long list of retrieved URLs with possibly a few error messages interspersed. Anything look interesting?

When you're done with that, click Clear again, switch over to the page, and try to change engines.

Once again, look for any errors in the Browser Console. At this point, a script error would not surprise me.

Did you check the cookie settings?

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
  • Click "More Information" to open Page Info
  • Go to the Permissions tab
  • Tools > Page Info > Permissions

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
