Why is Firefox so slow!! It takes 10 min to load, then 5 min to change between different pages. I have version 22, it keeps getting worse.

It seems the newer the version of Firefox, the slower it gets. What is the BEST version to download to use? This used to be a fast browser, now it takes 10 minutes to load. I have done everything mentioned on the help page, cleared history, cache, scanned the computer, removed Firefox and reinstalled it, but it just doesn't run.

Chrome runs circles around Firefox, it will load in about 10 seconds and will work in the games WAY better than Firefox - using games is totally impossible with Firefox. I need to know which version is the fastest and has the best rating. It seems the newer it gets, the worse it runs.

HELP!

I'm having the same problem with Firefox 25.0.1. It's been going on for months and I'm tired of it. I can't even watch a video in Firefox -- YouTube or anything else -- because it's always so choppy. I don't have that problem with Chrome or Opera. And Chrome is lightning fast.

I'm not going to try Firefox in Safe Mode. Why should I? I'm not going to uninstall other browsers, remove plugins (I don't have very many and they work fine in Chrome and Opera), or delete a file called User.js if I have it. This is a bunch of nonsense. Either Firefox 25.0.1 works or it doesn't, without having to do all those things. So, I'm not using Firefox any longer.

Look what ami happens is that when I have other browsers azap installed with exception of Internet Explorer, it's like browsers you will encourage Firefox, you need to uninstall the browser you have and that you try to remove some plugins have to no longer use, my firefox runs perfect me ...

Greetings, I hope you serve ...

Hello tielfeathers, the BEST version for your win7 os is the latest 25.0.1, you already have it.

did you the safe mode option ?

also, in your system details it seems that you have in your profile folder a User.js file. The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget it, if you have not create the file, then try to delete the User.js file, to see if the problem goes away (some programs create the file also).

thank you

Hello jakfak, i think it is best to start a new question

safe mode temporarily resets lots of settings and disables extensions that might be causing problems, also in safe mode hardware acceleration is disable, you can try it for your choppy video, and check firefox again.

thank you

I took my computer in for cleanup yesterday and the tech told me not to resort to using safe mode, he uses Chrome and said all the features in these files need to stay there. He says he thinks Firefox needs to do some tweeking on their end because he's had so many people complaining of how slow it is. The newer the version, the slower it gets. Maybe if they quit adding so much junk you don't need, like the earlier versions, but can't download them anymore. So I'm doing like my technician and jakfak are doing, NOT using Firefox until they fix it. Chrome is my baby now.

Yes, I've got version 25.0.1 also, but the response time is terrible. Goodbye Firefox.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

SOLVED.... It was ****** lag, I couldn't watch a video, that **** of adobe flash player kept crashing... I read it in another forum, where it says to uninstall adobe flash player, then uninstall those adobe air and adobe browser widget or anything other application related to that folder (might be some kind if conflict or something). I found mine in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Flash Player .... Inside the flash player folder I saw other apps installed to, so I uninstalled them... Make sure when u uninstall the apps that the flash player folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Flash Player gets deleted by itself, don't erase it manually or else u'll get big time trouble trying to uninstall an app without the uninstaller. Restart Windows and voila XD BTW I didn't reboot Windows or anything, I hesitated to see if the problem was gone, it was gone XD Now Firefox is blazing fast.... What I learned about it was that adobe is getting crappier than ever LOL Enjoy... =D

Why would I have to remove Adobe Flash Player - the computer needs that to run movies and other flash programs, doesn't it?

Yes, I know, but a reinstall won't harm your computer... Like I said I had the same problem too, and it fixed it... Hopefully it will with yours XD Good Luck
