Generally, qvo6 comes to computers because of user's failure to be attentive during bundled software downloads and subsequent installations. As a matter of fact, the setup wizard plainly tells that users are installing qvo6 in addition to the software they planned to bring onto their computer. To get rid of qvo6 you need to perform a lot of manual steps, primarily associated with managing add-ons in Mozilla and removing this browser hijacker through uninstalling it from the Control Panel. Running some security Program will not be enough in this case. I recommend you to try this guide that explains qvo6 virus removal -

hello, please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

And don't forget to fix Firefox's shortcut, see this:

Right-click the Mozilla Firefox shortcut you are using to open your web browser and select Properties.

Select Shortcut tab and remove "qvo6. com...." from the Target field and click OK to save changes. Basically, there should be only the path to Firefox executable file.

I had a nightmare job getting rid of QVO6. In essence nothing worked *except* Stopzilla. This fixed it up right away. Other malware programs that failed were:- Bitdefender Spyhunter (even though it picked it up) Defender MalwareBytes, Avast Avira and others.

Make no mistake, QVO6 is a true blue nasty malware virus/malware (whatever you wish to call it).

OK, so I finally got rid of qvo6 from my notebook.

@viandy was right: I blindly clicked on letting qvo6 into my notebook as a result of being too focused on getting the app that I wanted installed. Mind you, I'm usually super careful (bordering on paranoid) about installing apps in, but this one time I totally failed.

So I went ahead to Control Panel and uninstalled all the programs that came with that particular download (the color picker that I wanted, qvo6 and 2-3 more).

And, yes, I also tried qvo6's own instructions how to uninstall itself on the browsers - but these were totally useless and qvo6 went on its merry way.

I saw @irivlin's recommendation above re using StopZilla. This time I decided not to rush for a qvo6 "medication" and eventually ended up using SpyHunter instead. Unlike @irivlin, SpyHunter worked for me: goodbye qvo6!

Lessons learnt:

- Don't blindly click ACCEPT on consent screens even if you really, R.E.A.L.L.Y., want that app installed.

- Create a restore system file BEFORE any install.

Thought to share this with others who are grappling with qvo6 the way that I did.

I have removed Qvo6, after many unsuccessful scans. The virus is in the shortcuts. Right click short cut, click properties to check. Change home page to your own. Then delete all FireFox short cuts, desktop, quick launch, I deleted those in the 'Start programs list' as well. Then go to Computer / C: drive / program files / Mozilla folder. Open the folder, don't do anything, your not supposed to be there and you could do damage. Right click the Firefox.exe (the one with the picture) and click 'create shortcut'. Drag the shortcut 'Firefox (2)' to desktop. From that make shortcuts to replace those deleted. Close program files, don't touch anything else in program files. That did it for me.

Hi folks. I had this virus on my PC after installing online software affecting my 3 browsers (Firefox, Chrome & IE7. It defaulted always to the qvo6.com search engine page as the opening page. My 4 antivirus & malware programs did not fix the problem. I am not an advanced computer geek but I would genuinely like to offer the below advice about this fucking virus. 1. It does infect your startup registry inserting 3 or 4 entries. I had to download HiJackThis from sourceforge.net (choose free download) and ran this program to locate the offending entries. They were obvious with the words "qvo6.com" in the coding. Select each & delete it in turn. Do NOT delete any other entries. 2. It does infect your browser preferences like your default home page choice and preferred search engine. These need resetting to what you desire. I would delete your net history while at it so no track is left. 3. All shortcut links to your browser/s on your PC will also be infected. Just right click & choose properties from the menu & you will see. These must be replaced by shortcuts to the original browser application exe files in you PC. This part of purging the virus is a chore but has to be done to ensure your default home page displays first. You need to find these browser app exe files and right click on them & choose "create shortcut" to make a new shortcut & put this in a convenient location where you lunch your browser from. Remember browser shortcuts in your startup menu are also infected & need deleting & replacing. 4. If all this is too onerous & complex for you I suggest you go to a reputable competent computer tech for a PC service at a fee. All the very best. Ivjones

I solved this Qvo6 browser hijacker problem a few weeks ago with the help of a removal guide, it's here:

Link to removal guide removed by moderator. The link redirects to a "how-to-remove-qvo6-search-through-isafe-virus-removal-tool" webpage at www.yac,mx and that page links to questionable downloads of yac.exe and iSafedl.exe "YAC virus removal tool" (ref.).

See Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware for recommended anti-malware software and forums that specialize in malware removal.

Qvo6 removal is not that difficult, you can remove it completely with that removal guide.

I hate these browser hijackers. They prevent manual changes like changing the homepage or default search engine. I have found AdwCleaner to be a great utility to get rid of these malware. Just like qvo6-com I was also attacked by v9-com. Got rid of both using AdwCleaner. Its free and removes all types of malware. After reading this post, I checked the link I use on the taskbar, and since that one doesn't have a 'properties' tab, I checked the link I keep on the desktop.

Strangely enough, there was no qvo6 in that link. So I unpinned the offending link on the taskbar and dragged the good desktop link down to the taskbar.

But when I opened it, qvo6 was right there in the address bar...argh!

So, can someone tell me how this could be and, also how to fix it?

Thx :~]
