What do you mean you are erasing? If they are coming in as emails then we can't stop the emails from coming.

The email keeps reappearing each time I open Firefox and go to my google mail client, even though I previously deleted it. i have google search as my home page. I doubt it could be something coming back from them. It has to be in the browser, perhaps a corruption somewhere in firefox?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

The Firefox Firefox 14.0.1 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates

You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Thank you very much for your help. I fixed the problem by manually entering the Tools/Options/homepage preference to what I wanted the start up as.
