I hope you are not relying on Windows restores or running multiple copies of Firefox from a single profile both of those could cause problems.

A simple stopgap method of getting a Firefox 16 installed and running may be to download and install Firefox portable. That may be simply installed as an additional browser,without messing up your existing Firefox bookmarks and settings.

my windows 7 does not look like your instructions but i have tried to find mozilla firefox in my list for allowed programs (in my way in explorer) but mozilla firefox are not in the list so i have to write the exact internet-adress for mozilla firefox - i have tried with https://www.mozilla BUT I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY VERSION 8.0 IS WORKING BUT VERSION 12.0 OG 15.0 DOES NOT WORK??? but now i have done the upper thing. do you think that i now should try again to uninstall my old version 8.0 and download the version 15.0??? i am so so so sorry becaus i am som fond of firefox!

CARE do NOT use any options to remove personal settings because that may destroy passwords,bookmarks and settings from all normally installed versions of Firefox.

I was also hoping that installing Firefox portable may be a quick method of getting a version of Firefox running,

Note it is totally separate from other firefox installs, and can even be put on another machine or removable media.

i cannot do it in your way via paint but i have done it with Ctrl+print screan and pasted it in in word and that it this print screan i have tried to upload without succes! in the moment i again use my an old hidden set-up of version 8.0 and this is working but not version 12. and 15.0. have not yet tried to uninstall version 8 and download version 15 again because i have waited for your answer to my last comment i am using microsoft security essentials, ccleaner and windows firewall and i have windows 7 - explorer 9, HP-pc and 6 GB if your answer to me next will be that i have once more to uninstall

You will not be able to add a Word document as an image.

You should be able to add most images directly (I believe it now compresses images if they are too big, but not sure it will handle a Windows screenshot bitmap directly )

Try just clicking the keyboard key PrtSc that should transfer the scrdiV) Now save the file, to the Windows Desktop for instance. If possible use .pngor .jpg format. You should then be able to attach that by clicking the Browse button next to the Add images option in this forum.

I am not sure exactly what you have set up. It seems you are using Windows or some other backup or restore.

A simple method of getting a working version of Firefox running is probably to use Firefox Portable. That will install as a separate additional browser without messing up any existing Firefox settings or profiles. I mentioned that in a post above but did not provide you with the link.

• download and install Firefox Portable from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
• note you may still need to review security/firewall settings in order to use Firefox portable.

The firefox portable is not official or standard. The linked website will give more information.

If Firefox Portable works then the normal Firefox should also work. Problems with the normal Firefox may relate to the Firefox profile.

I guess English is not your first language. I may not be able to easily explain: words like official portable and standard may well not translate well.

i do understand you - thank you - i am from denmark and my first other language is english - but the tecknical words is more far from me. did you manage to install Firefox 16 or Firefox portable 16 ?
or are you still using Firefox 8 ?

If you are unable to attach a screenshot using the Add images on this forum; another method may be to upload an image somewhere else and post a link to that.

at first I installed via your link portable 16.0 but it did not work - afterwards i downloaded the common version 16.0 and with succes! strange that version 12.0 and 15.0 did not function but 16.0 does. excuse me that i did not inform you but i could not find my question and further more i got problems with my bookmarks but this your support also has solved for me. it is easy for me to put in guestion but not to find my question again without a link to it. i want to give you and your support my greatest compliments for your superb help. normally it is not possible to get help with anything regarding to pc-problems but firefox kan handle it and you do it and you also follow up - thank you. with love from anne-lise
