Firefox recommends I upgrade but when I click OK, it never happens. Very retarded

Just about every day when I open Firefox, it asks me if I want to upgrade. I have tried to click yes, no, close the window, pray to Jesus....but nothing makes it stop. I would be glad to download this phantom upgrade it it would let me. Perhaps a human being can actually help me with this (I know that's a lot to ask for in this stupid world we live in). When I click YES and try to download this upgrade, a progress bar comes up and never changes. I usually end up quitting Firefox and giving up using the internet for the day due to my annoyance. REALLY STUPID.

If exist problem with update or permissions it is better and easiest to download and install the new version:

1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html

2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

3. Install the version that you have downloaded.

Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

I know on Windows you can install the latest version of Firefox and it automatically migrates your existing settings. However, you should wait for Mac-specific comments.

Meanwhile, if you do not routinely back up your computer, consider making a backup of your Firefox settings as described in this article: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. You can create a new folder on your hard drive for backups, or use removable media, whatever you prefer.
