Hi! I have just tried to install the new version of Firefox (ver. 14 I think) on my Acer A500 tablet and I get a message telling me that my device is incompatible. This seems very odd, new versions of Opera and Chrome both work. I have been using Opera because the older versions of Firefox have not been very good but I want to use the same browser on both my PC desktop and my tablet.

Simply put, development could not finish in time for our initial release, and we did not want to delay by a couple months.

You can test out what is available for tablets as a preview with Nightly, our developer channel builds at http://nightly.mozilla.org

It depends on the specifications of your tablet. Note this article refers to the Android Market instead of Google Play Store

Will Firefox work on my mobile device?

Thanks for your quick reply. I've seen these two links. Neither actually helps; the new version of Firefox is touted as a browser for Android mobile devices NOT a browser for SOME Android devices. There seems to be no indication when other Android devices will be addressed. In the meantime I continue to use Opera (even the older version of Firefox that did work on ALL Android devices is no longer available from the Google App Store.

I have been using Firefox on my PC ever since it was released. It is the BEST browser for desktop PCs. The initial Android versions were VERY POOR by comparison (hence my switch to Opera on my tablet). I was quite surprised and pleased to hear that the new version of Firefox for Android supposedly fixed all the old versions problems. Then I am let down by it not being compatible with my Tablet.

Oh! By the way, I think the Android Market has been renamed the Google App Store (or something like that).

Yeah it's not Android Market, I noted that at the start it's Google Play Store. I'm more of an iOS & Apple person but I'm just as familiar with Androids as well. The problem may be & I just thought of this is that your Android version is the brand new Ice Cream Sandwhich, same as on Samsung Galaxy SIII. Not lot of devices are rocking this version unless recent because with all other versions of Android, google opted to mostly not push or make upgrade link to the new Ice Cream Sandwhich version. I'll do some more playing around & update again later in the day. Posting from my iPhone which doesn't even have FF mobile browser, lol. Opera is a good browser btw, it's highly customizable & full tweaks, I used to use it but now favor FF & Chrome equally

AaronMT,

Thanks for your reply! I will try the nightly build version.

As I think I said earlier, I have used Firefox on my PC desktop ever since the software was released. I try others but always stick with Firefox. Thar said, Firefox on Android has not been the same experience so I was very much looking forward to the new version (I would have been able to uninstall Opera :-)
