Hi,

As stated in title, since upgrading Firefox to the latest version, when I press Ctrl+C it closes the tab I'm on instead of copying text. It can be text from a website or text from an email i'm writing. Estremely frustrating, as I've come to the habit of copying the text of an email I'm sending using Yahoo Mail before sending in case it doesn't send properly and gets lost!!!

Also, I usually pressed Ctrl+F to search for a specific piece of text on a website, but this simply doesn't work. Any ideas?

I use the Welsh language version of Firefox, and the same problem occurs on both my home laptop and work PC.

That is very strange -- Ctrl+c is behaving like Ctrl+w.

If you display the classic menu bar (tap the Alt key if necessary) and look at the shortcut keys listed on the menu, have they changed there, or do they just not work correctly?

I don't know of a way to "reset" Firefox's keyboard handling but someone else might know of a way to do it.

Meanwhile, does it make any difference if you disable your dictionary add-on?

Thasnk you very much. Disabling dictionary add-on does not help. How do I display the 'classic menu' to see the shortcut keys listed? Could it simply be a problem with the Welsh language version? Many thanks for your help.

If you tap the Alt key, usually the classic menu bar will appear below the orange Firefox button. Edit: Also, the F10 key.

If that doesn't work, if you right-click in a blank area of the tab bar or navigation toolbar, you can enable the Menu Bar from the right-click pop-up menu.

It certainly could be an issue with the Welsh language version, and we might not yet have had enough installations of Firefox 13, and visits here by afflicted users, to see a pattern.

Thanks. When I tap Alt or press F10 the 'File' (well, 'Ffeil' in Welsh) option on toolbar is selected then deselected. I think I've already made the 'classic menu bar' appear to be honest as File, Edit etc all appear under Firefox button/icon. How do you get to 'Shortcut keys' from that menu? I've got File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools and Help/Sup[port (translated from Welsh so hope I'm right) Many thanks.

If you open the file menu via the keyboard (possibly Alt+F if it is named Ffeil in Welsh) then you should see the close Tab entry in the drop down list of the file menu.
You only see that entry if you use the keyboard to open the File menu and not if you use the mouse.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, there isn't a specific menu entry for Shortcut Keys, but the keyboard shortcut for various menu items should appear to the right of that item. So under Edit, Ctrl+C should appear to the right of Copy. Are those still displaying the expected keys?

Hi, it does seem to be a bug on the Welsh version.

On the dropdown it does note Ctrl+C for copy (or Copïo in Wlesh), but it closes the tab. It also notes Ctrl+A for find (Canfod in Welsh), and does indeed open open the find tab at the bottom of the page, but it also notes Ctrl+A for select all (Dewis_Popeth).

Weird. And very annoying!

Someone filed a "bug" for this in the tracking system. You can register on Bugzilla and "vote" for the bug to be fixed to help increase its priority, but it is generally not helpful to add comments unless they lead to progress toward a solution. (Adding "me too" and "what's taking so long" comments can cause developers to stop following the bug and slow progress on a fix).

Bug 762762 – Keyboard shortcuts mixed up in FF 13.0

Installing an extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/key-config/ for a temporary soulution doesn't seem to work either. After changing the settings it prevents Ctrl+C from closing the tab, but doesn't copy anything.

Right click and Copio (copy) works, but will take some getting used to.

Super annoying, but I've realised Ctrl+Shift+T opens the last tab to be closed and that is a great help until a fix comes along.

This should be fixed in Firefox 14 (according to comment #5 in the bug). If you get seriously frustrated with Firefox 13, you could try the beta (Fx14 beta 8 was released June 19th, so hopefully contains the fix): http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/

Thanks for letting us know. I've installed the v14 beta and the problem is indeed gone.
