Actually, this is a PITA. After many crashes, now I can't use Norton for PW storage and have to relocate all my LI & PW. I went to IE and Opera. Bye
Only way is to go back to 3.6. Like I say, PITA. I just want a good browser (which is why I switched to FF), not to become a Born Again disciple and jump through hoops. Now I switched to using IE9 and Opera. Too bad...

Should work if you update your Norton. Norton released the updates the same day that Firefox 8 was released.

Did not work. Do not want to go back to 3.6. Norton does not recognize my Norton that comes with Comcast. Like I say, I'm not wedded to FF. IE 9 now works well. I just want a good working browser. I left IE because FF was better. FF kept crashing, so I dropped it. Now FF 8 works, but does not allow Norton. IE 9 does, as does Opera. I don't think that I am atypical.
It is Comcast's responsibility to update the version of Norton that they offer for free to their customers. Firefox strictly enforces the version information for Firefox included in the toolbar products installed by third-party Add-ons. Norton probably won't recognize that version of Norton as it has been altered by Comcast. Complain loudly to Comcast and ask when they play to update the Norton product being used by their customers.

Mozilla changes its browser and I have to "complain loudly to Comcast?" It's not my problem, or Comcast's, it's Mozilla's. It's in Mozilla's best interest to maintain it's 3rd party compatiblities upon upgrades, or face losing market share. Microsoft can get away with it with its OS changes, because of limited competition. Mozilla doesn't have that luxury. I'm not going to jump through any more hoops because of their behavior. I just switch to another browser. End of my problem. I only posted here because I liked FF and gave it one more shot for an easy fix. It's straight Marketing 101: Satisfy the customer or they go elsewhere. 99% of the time the customer doesn't tell you why, they just go. I'm not arguing with anyone. Grumpy about it? Yeah. I wish it were another way. Happy holidays to all.
It's your problem then. Mozilla didn't force Norton to make add-ons for Firefox, and Mozilla didn't force Comcast to license a special version of Norton which Norton doesn't directly support, and Mozilla didn't force Comcast users to install that Comcast / Norton software that Norton doesn't support and Comcast isn't capable of supporting. Hell, just look at the Comcast support forums, it doesn't take a computer expert to realize that Comcast doesn't know very much about Firefox - but that would be too much to expect of a company which Microsoft has an 8% ownership in.
Use whatever browser you think is better, we'll keep the light on for you.
