Norton released a compatibility patch on 09-27-2011, the same day that Firefox 7 was released: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-7-0-Compatibility-Patch-is-now-available/td-p/547384

The addon might be disabled as the addon may not yet updated to support Firefox 7.

You can force enable the addon by installing Addon Compability Reporter

Force enabling does not guarantee that the addon will work. If the addon doesn't work then you will have to wait for Symantec to fix it. We don't provide support for Norton toolbar. Norton toolbar is a product of Symantec

The add-on has been dissabled in your firefox because it is not compatible with firefox 7.0.1 im afraid you will have to wait until symantec update the add-on to work with 7.0.1.

very easy, run "live update" from your norton icon, restart computer and toolbar will be back.

If only it was that easy. I've done all the updates and reboots and it still isn't there. I don't have time to keep doing this with no result. I used to love Firefox and recommended it to all my friends. But now I'm very reluctantly going back to IE because Norton Identity Safe is irreplaceable ... and Firefox (with its constant warnings to upgrade) isn't.

A small update - I have wasted another morning updating, reloading, rebooting, uninstalling and on and on and on ... all to no avail. I have gone back to Firefox 4 where the Norton Toolbar sits and works quite happily. Can someone now please tell me how to get rid of the increasingly annoying messages telling me I have to upgrade to Firefox 7 before the sky falls in?

7.0.1 is still telling me that the Norton Toolbar plugin is incompatible with this version of Firefox. I have verified that I have the latest version of 360 5.1.0.29, the latest version of the Toolbar 2011.7.1.3 and run live update until my mouse finger hurts. On the Symantec support site moderators are saying that only a small percentage of 7.0.1 users are having a problem and that many are reporting success with getting the toolbar to work on 7.0.1. The implication is that the problem is with Mozilla. I really want that toolbar back! Has anyone got any ideas?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1

Update: uninstalled FF and N360 leaving settings. Reinstalled FF and N360. Ran live update 4 or 5 times and restarted computer 5 or 6 times. Toolbar is now working. Had down rev coFFPlgn.dll (2011.7.1.3) and version 2011.7.2.3 was required. I tried running live update. I tried deleting the .dll and running live update, but nothing caused Norton to update the file. Only the uninstall/reinstall worked.

How discouraging to find that FF provides updates even though there is not a complete compatibility with Norton. I too am running FF 7.0 and my safe search checkmark is gone! Guess I will sadly rely on IE until this issue is resolved. Hey! Mozilla and Norton, let's all work together for the benefit of safe searching. And, my request was answered this am when I did another restart and viola, norton appeared. Thank you.
