All of my websites with username & passwords in the Tools>options>security disappeared and none are being saved. The popup box asking if I want FF to save passwords does not show up any more. What do I need to do to get this feature working again? Is it possible to get the ones that disappeared to show up again?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

"Remember History" seems to work, though I'd lost all of my passwords stored in Tools. aargh! Starting over--ugh!

That shouldn't have any effect on the saved passwords in the Password Manager
