How can I get Firefox 5 Mac to warn me before quitting?

Using Firefox 4, a warning dialog was displayed before I quit the browser. This warning is essential to me since I work through a web application and risk losing work if I accidentally quit. I frequently use Cmd+W to close tabs, and Cmd+Q is an easy slip of the finger.

I have the following config settings:

browser.showQuitWarning = true browser.warnOnQuit = true

Is there any way to get the quit confirmation dialog back? Alternatively, as a workaround, is there any way to remap or disable the Cmd+Q shortcut?

How can I get Firefox 5 Mac to warn me before quitting?

Restoring tabs from a lost session is now done after restarting through the History menu ("Alt+S") with "Restore previous session".

You can still have the old messages, to make sure you get your tabs restored immediately, but with or without the messages and whichever way you respond to the message you can still get back your previous session through the History menu.

You can make Firefox 5.0 look like Firefox 3.6.19, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6). Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.

Restoring tabs is not the issue. I need the dialog box with the quit warning. Any unsaved work in the web application I use to work will be lost if I quit, and I cannot save my work until it is complete.

I do not get any quit warning dialog even though I have the settings exactly as specified in the linked document: 

   browser.showQuitWarning user set boolean true
   browser.tabs.warnOnClose default boolean true
   browser.warnOnQuit default boolean true
   browser.warnOnRestart user set boolean true

Thank you for the workaround, cor-el. I'm not the only user with this issue, so I hope that the developers will take notice and restore the option for a quit warning. This is not just about restoring/saving a session. There are some things that can't be restored, such as data entered into certain web applications.

I keep the Ctrl+Q key disabled on Linux to avoid closing Firefox by accident as it is to easily to hit Ctrl+Q instead of Ctrl+W like you wrote.
