Realplayer doesn't work well, can I set another player, or is that provider choice?

I expect a certain amount of pausing for buffering in video, but realplayer is unusable because short play time with excessive download time. 4 or 5 seconds of video, 10 seconds download for whole video.

I do watch live streaming video for bicycles with occasional hiccups, youtube generally works well.

Can I set another default player? I know I have flash, vlc, and windows media player.
