most websites are scrunced up or garbled in firefox compared to IE.

when using firefox the website are garbled or "scrunched up" quite a bit. the exact same websites in IE are just fine. what can I do to fix this?

Try using the Default FullZoom Level extension and set a default zoom level: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965
