i have exactly the same problem .. ?? baffling firefox wont let me add a bookmark for a page on the toolbar. Theres no problem with safari

Multiple installs preceded by manual folder and registry cleaning did not work. Neither did deleting all occurrences of the database "sqlite" files. It was not possible to delete the bookmarks in the Firefox safe mode.

Setting a new profile ( start -> run -> firefox -P) after one of many re-installs did the job. Old bookmarks were restored from a backup file kept intentionally out of the Firefox folders.

By creating a new account for the account that was not working, as shown above by GEASYD seems to have solved the problem of not being able to save ANY NEW bookmarks. We have multiple logons for the 4 Users of WinXP Pro on my PC, all using Firefox. My bookmarks worked but my wifes stopped saving, it was so frustrating when Firefox support pages could not give me the answer. (I also copied all the bookmarks into a word doc before hand, so I could re-add them again once it was fixed, yes I know there may be a simplier way)

I have the same problem. When on a web site, I click on "Bookmarks" in the pull down menu bar and then select, "Bookmark this page", and nothing happens. The little window that allows you to select where to place the bookmark no longer appears on the notebook computer I am sending this post from. It does still work on another notebook computer that I have sitting next to this one. Both computers are running Windows XP SP3 and the very latest version of Firefox. Is there a way to reset or reload the bookmarking pop-up window?
