Dear Firefox team, I have one question only.

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE? Can you STOP bombarding me with the notifications? This is MY DESKTOP, this is MY PC, I DON'T NEED this shit.

For anyone who would like to help:

No, there's no such option in settings. No, removing updater physically does not stop pop-ups. No, there's nothing in about:config to shut up the updates.

For Firefox team:

No, your updates ruin the browser, more and more, I think I'm about to switch to Pale Moon instead.

You can't disable it in Settings, nor in about:config.

You can only set a policy to disable updates.

ManualAppUpdateOnly

Switch to manual updates only.

If this policy is enabled:

  • The user will never be prompted to install updates
  • Firefox will not check for updates in the background, though it will check automatically when an update UI is displayed (such as the one in the About dialog). This check will be used to show “Update to version X” in the UI, but will not automatically download the update or prompt the user to update in any other way.
  • The update UI will work as expected, unlike when using DisableAppUpdate.

This policy is primarily intended for advanced end users, not for enterprises, but it is available via GPO.
