Get rid of the Extention button
This button that looks like a jig saw bit will not budge.
Can I delete this in about:config by deleting the 'unified extention button' and can I delete the 'HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Mozilla/Firefox/Extensions' in the registry?
Firefox these days is getting a burden with more info and such like being collected behind out backs, it's about to be ditched on all my computers, the last few episodes make me want out.

Hi Dave, your Firefox reported itself to be version 115 running on Windows 7. Is that correct? I don't have a test version of Firefox 115 running, so I don't know whether your proposed changes will have the desired effect.
If you do edit the browser.uiCustomization.state preference, either in about:config while Firefox running or in prefs.js while Firefox is not running, and there is heavy breakage, you can use the "Restore Defaults" button at the bottom of the Customize panel to restore the "factory" button set. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
As for information being collected, I don't think there are any retroactive changes for Firefox 115 one way or the other, but you can review the settings to make sure they still match your preferences: Manage technical and interaction data collection settings in Firefox.
Hi, thanks for you reply jscher2000
Well, I've had that enough of switchin' n' changing, I'm gonna give it a try, if it breaks it breaks - the whole lot comes off and I'll be through with Mozilla.... it HAD use to be removable - I'm not the only one complaining about this reading between the lines, the developers have they any brains or just a bunch of 'amateurs'? Looking at what goe's on in 'about:config' it looks like the latter to me.... it ain't getting smaller it's getting bigger!
Dave.

The Extensions button was introduced as a non-removable button. You can vote up and add comments to the feedback thread here:
Sorry, I can't be bothered anymore! It will do no good what-so-ever I feel.
