I have installed thunderbird email on my mac. I am trying to find out how to download an attachment and where it goes once it is downloaded.

R-click on the attachment you want to download > Save as .... (image "save as") )will open a dialogue window in the Finder. Choose the destination folder and click on "Save". (image "save "attachment"))
