Websites no longer allow navigation or refresh after an unknown number of pages on the domain
So this is an issue I've mainly noticed on my work computer, but it's really odd in how it breaks things.
If I go to some websites (such as https://www.fandom.com/ or https://forums.spacebattles.com/) and start browsing, the website will work perfectly until it hits an unseen limit at which point it refuses to change anything - even refreshing the page does nothing.
The only convenient work around I've found is to right click the link and press "Open in new container tab", where I can browse again before I hit the limit again - rinse and repeat.
Using Windows 10, latest update of firefox, cleared cache and cookies, and I'd like to find a method that doesn't involve me restarting the computer every time this happens. Thoughts??

Is this a problem with Google / YouTube?
Several users have reported losing their connection on Google / YouTube sites in mid-session, including "Oops" messages on Gmail. It seems to be a compatibility issue with the "zero round trip resumption" feature. Here is how you can disable that and see whether it helps:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste security.tls.enable_0rtt_data and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from true to false
After that, try Google again. Any improvement?

It's not a problem with Google / Youtube, I've not had problems on there at all... Discord browser view is another one that breaks after a while, as well. It shows a message of "Messages failed to load" and "Message couldn't be sent" depending on the action I try.
Sorry, I'm having a problem with question text appearing invisible so I wasn't able to read the details until after replying. (?!)
I suggest turning off zero round trip resumption in case that is a relevant factor.
I think you are saying that clearing cache and cookies doesn't help with the site stops working. If clearing cache DOES help, you could try reloading the page bypassing the cache -- either
- Shift+click the Reload button
- Ctrl+Shift+R
- Ctrl+F5
-- which should have a similar effect to clearing cache.
Hiya - none of the cache bypass reloading methods worked I'm afraid. Also, what's zero round trip resumption??
Don't know if it's related or not, but a google sheets document I keep perpetually open for work does this thing where it breaks while displaying a message "Trying to connect...". Refreshing that one doesn't work either tbh.
OK it might be something to do with Google after all, I can't even get a Google search going XD
I tried your solution for the google problem and it now works on the other websites - thank you for your help!
Thanks for reporting back!
