Hello,

I am having problems downloading documents with Firefox. It happens very rarely, initially I only saw that problem on the Epson Microcontroller web site and now the same is happening on the Raspberry Pi web site. All other web sites work fine.

When I click on a link I get an error message that the web site cannot be found and to check the internet connection a.s.o. (see attachment). The link I clicked when I got this error message was:

https://datasheets.raspberrypi.com/rpi3/raspberry-pi-3-b-plus-reduced-schematics.pdf

It works fine on a Huawei tablet, so I suspect the problem lies with Firefox and / or my settings.

Any idea what is happening and how to solve that problem?

Kind Regards, Hugo

p.s.: the image upload here does not seem to work, the error message displayed says:

"Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site. We can’t connect to the server at datasheets.raspberrypi.com. If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web."

I have several versions of Firefox and had no problem.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Hello Fred,

thank you for your fast response!

I read through the links you provided and enhanced tracking protection was enabled. Disabling it made no difference though.

Then I restarted in troubleshoot mode as you described. Problem still there.

Biscuits and related contents are deleted automatically when I close Firefox, so that is not the problem either.

It says "server not found" as if the internet connection is not working. But everything is fine and other devices using the same internet connection can access the documents. So what is different on those Raspberry and Epson web sites that makes Firefox say it cannot find them?

wget fails too, so maybe nothing to do with Firefox at all:

c3~$ wget https://datasheets.raspberrypi.com/rpi3/raspberry-pi-3-b-plus-reduced-schematics.pdf --2022-04-16 12:17:30-- https://datasheets.raspberrypi.com/rpi3/raspberry-pi-3-b-plus-reduced-schematics.pdf Resolving datasheets.raspberrypi.com (datasheets.raspberrypi.com)... failed: Name or service not known. wget: unable to resolve host address ‘datasheets.raspberrypi.com

ping works though but looking at "d2uobhmibyx8m0.cloudfront.net" and not "datasheets.raspberrypi.com":

c3~$ ping datasheets.raspberrypi.com PING d2uobhmibyx8m0.cloudfront.net (18.66.171.124) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from server-18-66-171-124.dub56.r.cloudfront.net (18.66.171.124): icmp_seq=1 ttl=243 time=31.0 ms 64 bytes from server-18-66-171-124.dub56.r.cloudfront.net (18.66.171.124): icmp_seq=2 ttl=243 time=29.2 ms 64 bytes from server-18-66-171-124.dub56.r.cloudfront.net (18.66.171.124): icmp_

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Hello Fred,

maybe there is a misunderstanding. I do not use windows. I am using Linux and the links you provided suggest that for Linux booting in runlevel 1 is a "safe mode" comparable to what windows calls that. Runlevel 1 is command line only, so no graphical user interface. Firefox will not run then.

There are no "protection" programs installed or running; as far as I know all those things are only required if you still use anything from microsoft.
