Firefox 88.0.1 bookmarks - I cannot backup nor save them nor export them to an HTML file nor JSON. I do not have any Firefox current Bookmark restore options. Unfortunately, I do not have a Firefox sync copy of my current bookmarks. I think this problem might have occurred when I last updated Firefox two or three versions ago. Thank you in advance for your help; it will be appreciated. Good Luck.

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately On All Devices to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers/profiles before using sync again.

[v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.

If any errors are reported, check this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional

The places.sqlite file contains your History and Bookmarks. And it looks like it is corrupted.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox. The browser should then create a new place.sqlite and recover your bookmarks from the backup files.

Note: Your history is not backed up and will be lost.

Hi sender11, I always recommend as the first step a normal shutdown and restart of Windows to release file locks, complete any pending/deferred updates, and hopefully resolve any transient permission issues which may prevent Firefox from working with its data files.

If problems continue after that, please do check --

There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.

If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:

> Task: checkIntegrity
+ The places.sqlite database is sane
+ The favicons.sqlite database is sane

Does yours say that, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.

Are you sure there are no backups available in the bookmarkbackups folder ?

You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created.
