I find I have two copies of Firefox, in both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders. Both of them are 64-bit however, and there is only one entry in Programs and Features.

How do I remove one of these copies cleanly? The only problem it causes is that firefox appears twice on the default browser settings page, which is annoying.

The first step is to determine what Firefox program you are using. It is possible both are in use. Right-click on the Firefox shortcut and select Open File Location.

I can use either, that's not a problem. I prefer to use the one in Program Files, but my shortcuts and default currently point to Program Files (x86). They are both at the same version.

I didn't really want just delete the folder as it might not clean up properly. I can easily switch the 'Program Files' one to using the correct profile

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.
