Firefox disappearing after reboot
Good evening. I have recently broken my laptop screen, and I was able to transfer my profile onto my work laptop, on which I have just installed Firefox (84.0, Windows 10). After installation, I was able to retrieve open tabs, bookmarks etc. although, whenever I turn off and on the laptop, I can use firefox for like a minute, then the firefox icon on the desktop disappears and the program gets killed. Firefox is installed though, because I can retrieve it from search, but when I click on the app, it doesn't open the usual tabs I have opened, but instead tries to load an empty page with a message underneath that says that I should connect to a network. Reinstalling Firefox fixes the issue for me, but it's a temporary fix. Is there any way I could make this permanent? I should reinstate that this is a company laptop, obviously I am authorised to use it for personal use, but it might be something to do with that.

This is about network detection done by Firefox on startup. See Network Detection:
You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to disable this feature if you do not need it.
- network.captive-portal-service.enabled = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, after having set it to false, it didn't fix the issue. The icon still disappears after a couple of minutes from booting. Is there any other parameter that might cause it? Thank you very much.
There was a bug report about this issue a while back, but that should have been fixed in Firefox 84+ and Firefox 78.6 ESR.
- Bug 1666072 - "you must log in to this network before you can access the internet"
You can check if firefox.com:HSTS is in SiteSecurityServiceState.txt in the profile folder and possibly remove this line.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
Good evening, Thank you for your quick reply. The line isn't in SiteSecurityServiceState.txt, unfortunately, so I cannot remove it. I am not sure where does this leave us, but I am really glad for your efforts.
