All i wanted to do was move some favourites from one folder to another, no problem you would think...... Wait till you click the II/ tab , it decides to show some total crap thats not linked to your own favourites, but rather takingthe route of Microsoft ( Which is now unfortunetly my new browser ) ..

Why complicate things ?

Why not leave it in folder format, drag and drop

so unhappy as i wanted to avoid MSFT :(

yes i did and its crazy complicated, if you want a demo of how to move a single file from folder to folder then i can show you, but until you sort this i am out ......

The best place to do significant bookmark moves is the Library window. When you click the Library icon (), then Bookmarks, the menu item is "Show All Bookmarks". The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+b.

By default, Firefox will show the contents of the Other Bookmarks category. You can view the contents of the Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar category by clicking their headings in the left column of the window.

Two other notes:

(1) If you generally store your bookmarks on the Bookmarks Menu, and you keep the top menu bar hidden (default setting on Windows), you could add the Bookmarks Menu icon to the toolbar. Either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

(2) If you want new bookmarks you add to go onto the Bookmarks Menu automatically instead of into Other Bookmarks, there is an add-on for that (click its icon to access settings and set your preferred folder):
