If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thank you for your pro forma response, but it did not address my issue. My problem with vimeos started immediately after the latest Firefox update. Immediately before the update, I had no problem. Every site on which I tried to watch a vimeo video displays the same error message: Oops! That wasn't supposed to happen. Please try again in a few minutes.

I NEED to be able to watch vimeo videos for classes I am taking.

I would appreciate some REAL ATTENTION here, not a pro forma response!

Did you try Firefox Safe Mode as it is quite possible that an extension is causing this issue ?

You can do a quick test and create a new profile to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Starting in SafeMode did not help. Again, this started after the new update. In my 40 years of computer experience, something like this is never a coincidence but has a direct causal relationship. I strongly feel something in the new update broke the vimeo player. I could definitely be wrong, have been many times before, but they played correctly right before the update and not since.

Well, I guess I have to eat my words. I updated Firefox on my partner's computer and the vimeo videos played fine. So what do I do now? Starting in SafeMode did not help.
