Are you using any clean-up software? About when does this happen?

I'm not using any clean up software. This happens around 10 pm every night.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked.

What programs is the computer running at that time? Was Firefox running at the time? Did you try shutting it down beforehand?

Maybe these cookies expire automatically. You can check this in the Storage Inspector in a tab with the YouTube website open.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • rename/remove cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and when present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Honestly I'm not sure what to be looking for when on the Storage Inspector. The information seemed pretty similar to any other site, but Youtube is the only site i have been having trouble with.

When you open the Storage Inspector on YouTube, Cookies usually are displayed automatically. Check the expiration date/time column -- if that's not displayed, you can add it by right-clicking any other header and choosing it from a list. Are any cookies set to expire at that time?

I got two that states it will expire tomorrow 10/2, but one updates along with my time, the other one says it'll expire 8 GMT. All others say they will expire next year.

Could it be one of your add-ons?

I will test that out next. Never gave a problem before, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

sadly that didn't seem to work either. i'm entirely stumped to what may be causing this problem and always at the same time each night

So I refreshed firefox and it seemed to have worked for 10 days and just youtube didn't kick me out but did reset my settings for youtube, specifically the autoplay and turning off dark theme.

Could you test the following. I saw it suggested in a thread on Reddit:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste purge and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the privacy.purge_trackers.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

This feature is designed to purge "first party" tracking cookies for sites you haven't visited for 30 days, but that time window doesn't seem to be working for some users. I don't know what causes it to sometimes go wrong.
